Myrtle Beach vacation rental booking tips and tricks:
Getting the most from your budget:
- Summertime is high season in Myrtle Beach. To get the largest vacation home within budget, we highly recommend reserving in the Spring or Fall. You'll benefit from lower rates, better selection, warm weather and the absence of giant crowds at Myrtle Beach restaurants, tours, and activities. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to book a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer.
- The sooner you can book a vacation rental, the better your selection will be. The best rental properties are booked early. Reserving your rental up to 12 months before your travel dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to plan and book your rental.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner if your group qualifies for a price reduction.
- Management companies and individual rental owners typically offer their guests an option to obtain vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally will cost you anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed days as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for details.
- Look for your local Myrtle Beach visitors guide when you check-in. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, visitors guide magazines contain coupons for nearby tours, shops, and attractions.
Narrow your Search:
- First, have your group decide on date ranges and a budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and the configuration you need. Oceanfront North Myrtle Beach Condominium on Shore Drive! has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is almost always available on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, email the host before reserving the home. Remember that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds in living rooms.
- If there's a specific Myrtle Beach beach you crave, look for rentals that are either near by, or those that cater especially to your desires.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. Make certain to ask about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
- If your family is vacationing with pets, you'll need to search for a pet-friendly vacation rental. Get details on breed, size, and type requirements. Be aware that some property managers charge additional pet fees.
More tips for your stay:
- Get the property manager's contact number and entry/exit procedures for your . Put the host's information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Record any issues with the rental upon arrival, and immediately send them to the owner. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be beneficial if a dispute arises.
- Property managers are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask questions during your stay.
- Respect the neighborhood. Often times, adjacent homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking policies is the right thing to do.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Local residents can usually help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to see a beautiful sunrise or sunset, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Ensure you protect the rental owner (and your stuff!) by keeping the rental locked up while you are gone, just like you would at home.
- On check-out day, take a final walk-through to confirm you didn't forget anything. Remember to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Go through the property a final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We suggest walking through with the host whenever you can. If the host is not available, ensure that you take photos of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- After your trip, leave a review! Hosts rely on excellent ratings to compel new bookings. They'll be grateful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went awry, other families will be thankful you shared your feedback and help them have the best future vacation. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to solve it.
