Tricks and tips for getting the best Myrtle Beach vacation home experience:
When to book & When to go:
- The sooner your group can reserve a home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable vacation homes are booked very early. Reserving your rental home six - twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to search for and book your rental home.
- To get the best rental within budget, we suggest reserving in the Spring or Fall. You'll benefit from lower rental rates, better selection, beautiful weather and the absence of giant crowds at Myrtle Beach restaurants, beaches, and activities. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve a beach front rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during June, July, and August. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with friends and family at your favorite beach.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property management company or host if your family qualifies for a reduced rate.
- Property management companies often offer their guests an option to buy trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which usually costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for more information.
- Many property management companies and vacation rental houses supply Myrtle Beach area visitor guides which include special deals, either offered directly by local companies, or by way of a relationship with the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Myrtle Beach visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
Make a plan and pick the rightrental:
- Select your dates and budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your family requires. B149 at The Myrtle Beach Resort: Sun, Surf, and Ocean Views Await has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is almost always available on booking websites. If not, email or call the host before reserving the vacation property. Note that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds in living rooms.
- Traveling with pets? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Ask your property manager before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Extra fees or might be applied to your contract.
- If there's a specific Myrtle Beach destination you crave, keep an eye out for homes that are either nearby, or those that cater especially to your desires.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. Confirm all required amenities are included before reserving a rental
During your stay:
- Put the manager's contact information in your smartphone.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, stereo or appliance. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief text message can prevent quite a few problems.
- Keep the property locked while you are out! Don't let burglars ruin your vacation.
- During arrival, document any issues with the rental property and immediately contact the host. Record all correspondence just in case a dispute arises.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disagreeable visitors bothering your peaceful neighborhood. Use the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great restaurants and attractions you would've not otherwise known about!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Locals can often help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to launch your kayaks, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Upon check-out, complete a final walk-through to confirm you didn't leave anything behind. Remember to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Leave a review! Hosts rely on excellent feedback to drive future bookings. They'll be grateful for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other families will will be grateful for your feedback find their best rental home. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to fix it.
