Our top Myrtle Beach rental booking tips and tricks:
Find your perfect vacation home:
- Reserve your rental property in Spring or Fall to get the benefit of warm weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to book a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the high season. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
- In the Myrtle Beach area, The sooner you can reserve a vacation home, the better your selection will be. The most desirable vacation rentals are booked early. Reserving your vacation rental 6-12 months before your travel dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to plan and book your rental home.
- Property managers sometimes offer promotional rates for active duty military and veterans. Ask your property manager if special offers are available for your group.
- Property management companies usually offer customers an option to obtain vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally will cost you anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed vacation time as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for more information.
- Find a copy of your local Myrtle Beach visitors guide when you check-in. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great information, travel guide magazines have discounts for nearby accommodations, restaurants and tours.
Planning and choosing a perfect Myrtle Beach vacation home:
- Begin by selecting your a vacation week and a maximum budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your group requires. Oceanfront Oasis: A Coastal Getaway has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Specific details about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is generally available on booking websites. Otherwise, email or call the property management company before booking the home. Note that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which typically includes pull-out couches and bunk beds.
- If there's a specific Myrtle Beach attraction you love, look for homes that are either close by, or those that cater to your requirements.
- Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. Remember to confirm all required amenities are included before booking
- Traveling with pets? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Remember to ask your host before booking, and study your agreement! Additional fees or charges might be applied to your invoice.
More considerations:
- Add the property manager's contact information to your phone. Understand and take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
- To make sure no damages are attributed to your family's visit, inspect the property for any problem areas when you arrive. Contact the property manager immediately to record your findings. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having a record of issues and contact attempts will be helpful.
- Hosts are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask questions during your stay.
- Be respectful of your neighbors. Often, adjacent homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking regulations is the right thing to do.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Local residents can frequently help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to book the best tours, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Lock your rental while you are out and about. Keep your property safe!
- Upon check-out, take a final walk-through to confirm you did not forget any personal items. Remember to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Leave feedback! Property owners rely on excellent feedback to inspire more reservations. They'll be much obliged for your review. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other vacationers will will be grateful for your review and help them have the best future vacation. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to fix it.
