Vacation rental tips:
Sticking to a spending budget:
- Summer time is high season in the Myrtle Beach area. Booking in Fall or Spring is one of our best tips for saving money on your vacation. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of suitable homes. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to book a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer months.
- The sooner you can book a rental home, the better your selection will be. The best properties are booked early. Reserving your vacation home six - twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to plan and book your vacation home.
- Some property management companies offer discounts for active duty military and veterans. Remember to ask your property manager if special discounts are available for your group.
- Property managers typically offer customers an option to add trip insurance. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost you anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed days as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for program terms and fees.
- Many property management companies and vacation rental houses supply Myrtle Beach area visitor guide magazines which will include money-saving offers, either offered directly by local companies, or through a relationship with the property management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
How to pick the best vacation rental in the Myrtle Beach area:
- Start by selecting a vacation week and a budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your group needs. T1701: Oceanfront Oasis: A Coastal Getaway has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is almost always accessible on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, contact the host before reserving your home. Remember that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which frequently includes pull-out couches. You'll need to determine what configuration is suitable for your group.
- Are you visiting for a single event? Use a map search to browse nearby rentals.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. Remember to confirm all required amenities are available before reserving a rental
- Some rentals allow pets, and others don't. Allowable types of family pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional costs may apply. Ask the property manager about pet restrictions before booking.
Advice for a smooth stay:
- Take a copy of the owner's phone number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental. Store the manager's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Upon check-in, make note of any issues with the rental property and immediately alert the owner. Record all correspondence just in case a dispute arises.
- Property managers are available to help! Feel free to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Respecting quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You will increase your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are usually a fantastic resource to find the best local spots.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Residents can usually help. Who better to ask where to find the fresh catch of the day, have a great night out, or the best spots for fishing?
- Ensure you protect the owner (and your stuff!) by locking the rental when you are away, just like you would at home.
- Re-check the rental property to make sure that you've packed all personal items at check-out. Re-check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Inspect the rental a final time and look for any damage. We suggest inspecting the property with the property manager whenever possible. If the host is not available, take photos of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- After your trip, leave a review! Hosts rely on excellent ratings to drive future reservations. They'll be grateful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other vacationers will be thankful you shared your review and help them have the best future vacation. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to remedy it.
