Tips to get the optimal Myrtle Beach vacation property experience:
Getting the best rental home value:
- June, July, and August are high season in the Myrtle Beach area. To get the best value, shift your trip dates to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and October offer excellent temperatures, less crowded beaches, and reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to book an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the high season. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
- The sooner you can book a rental home, the better your selection will be. The most desirable properties are booked very early. Reserving your rental property six to twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to plan and reserve your vacation home.
- Some owners offer discounts for veterans and active duty military. It's always a good idea to check with your host or property manager to see if special offers are available for your group before you book.
- Property managers typically offer renters an option to buy trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost you between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed vacation time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for additional information.
- Find a copy of your local visitors guide upon arrival. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, travel guides have offers and deals for nearby tours, shops, and attractions.
Planning, picking, and booking your Myrtle Beach rental home:
- Select a designated group leader, choose your vacation week, and select a maximum budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and the configuration your group requires. Oceanfront Studio Next to The Skywheel~ Holiday Pavilion Condominium Tower, Unit 405 has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is regularly available on booking websites. Otherwise, call the property management company before reserving the vacation home. Remember that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds and bunks. You will need to establish what is right for your vacation group.
- Are you looking for unique amenities? Most rental search websites include search filters for amenities. Use these to your advantage to find the perfect rental home.
- Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. .
- Some rental properties allow pets, and others don't. Allowable types of pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and added costs may apply. Ask the property management company about your furry family members before booking.
More considerations:
- Add the property manager's phone number to your smartphone. Print and take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
- Record any damages to the rental at check in, and immediately contact the host. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that can be useful if there is a dispute.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, A/V setup or appliance. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief telephone call prevents quite a few problems.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like obnoxious visitors disrupting your life at home. Employ the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great restaurants and places you would have not otherwise known about!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Local residents can usually help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to book the best tours, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Lock your rental home while you're out. Protect your property!
- Double-check every room of the vacation property to confirm that you've packed all of your family's items on check-out day. Check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Did your group have a excellent vacation? Many rental home management companies make it easy for travelers to provide comments. If your rental and/or property manager was terrific, they would love to hear about it. If anything was amiss and they failed to address it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
