Tips and Tricks to get the best Myrtle Beach vacation property experience:
When to visit & When to book:
- In the Myrtle Beach area, The sooner you can book a rental home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable vacation rentals are booked very early. Booking your vacation home up to 12 months before your vacation dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to search for and book your vacation home.
- Summertime is high season in Myrtle Beach. Booking your vacation home in Fall or Spring months is our favorite way to save money on your vacation home. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of desirable properties. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with friends and family at your favorite beach.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager or host whether your vacationing group qualifies for a price reduction.
- Booking websites typically offer customers an option to purchase trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any days missed as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for specifics.
- Find a copy of your local Myrtle Beach visitors guide magazine upon arrival. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, visitor guide magazines have discounts for nearby attractions, tours, restaurants, and shops.
Planning and choosing a perfect Myrtle Beach rental:
- First, have your family commit to date ranges and a max budget.
- Oceanfront has 2 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our vacation rental search.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is generally available online. If not, call the property management company before reserving the property. Note that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which often includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You'll need to establish what configuration is right for your vacation.
- Remember to include your furry companions! Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Ask your host before booking, and study your rental agreement! Pet fees or charges applied to your invoice.
- Looking for special amenities? Most rental websites include amenity lists and search filters. Use these to your advantage to find the perfect rental home.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. Make certain to inquire about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
Some things to know before you go:
- Review arrival and departure procedures before leaving home. Save the instructions to your phone, and take a printed copy.
- Property managers are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask questions during your stay.
- Lock your rental property while you are away! Don't let burglars ruin your trip.
- At Check-in, note any issues with the rental property and immediately contact the host. Record all correspondence in case a dispute arises.
- Respect your neighbors. Frequently, surrounding homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting noise limits and parking regulations is the right thing to do.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Residents can often help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to find the best seashells, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Just prior to departing, complete a final walk-through to make sure you haven't forget any personal items. Remember to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Inspect the rental one final time and look for any damage. We recommend walking through with the host whenever possible. If the host is not available, take video of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- After your trip, leave feedback! Hosts rely on excellent feedback to propel new reservations. They'll be thankful for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other vacationing families will appreciate that you share your feedback and help them have the best future vacation. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to remedy it.
