Tips and Tricks to get the perfect Myrtle Beach vacation rental experience:
When to visit & When to reserve a Myrtle Beach rental home:
- The earlier your group can book, the easier your search will be. The best rental properties are reserved very early. Booking your rental property up to 12 months before your vacation is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to search for and reserve your rental property.
- June, July, and August are high season in Myrtle Beach. To get the best value, try shifting your trip dates to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and October offer warm weather, , and greatly reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to reserve a beach front rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective vacation rental company or host if your vacationing group qualifies for a discount.
- Booking websites often offer customers an option to buy vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which commonly costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any days missed as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for more information.
- Often, property management companies and vacation rental houses supply Myrtle Beach area travel guide magazines that include money-saving offers, either offered independently by local businesses, or by way of a relationship between the management company and the business itself. You can also find Myrtle Beach area magazine and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.
Narrow your rental Search:
- Choose a group leader, choose your trip dates, and select a max budget.
- Note the number beds and the bed configuration your group requires. Fall Discount Available! 2BR Beach Condo has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed types is almost always accessible on booking websites. If not, call the property owner before booking the property. Remember that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds.
- Do your family pets travel with you? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Ask your host before booking, and study your agreement! Pet fees or charges could be applied to your contract.
- Visiting for a specific event? If so, use a map search to locate nearby rentals.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for persons with a disability. Confirm all required amenities are included before booking
Some things to know before you go:
- Add the host's contact info to your phone. Print and take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, A/V setup or kitchen appliance. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief call prevents many concerns.
- Protect the property owner (and your things!) by locking the rental while you are away, just like you would back home.
- Note any issues with the rental during check in, and immediately contact the host. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that can be very helpful if a dispute arises.
- Be a good neighbor. Often times, surrounding homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking rules can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Local residents can often point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to take kids for a treat, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Don't leave anything behind! Before you drive away, take a walk through the rental to confirm you've collected all of your things. Re-check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Remember to leave a review! Property owners rely on great feedback to propel new bookings. They'll be thankful for your review. Alternatively, if something went awry, other vacationing families will be thankful you shared your review find their best vacation home. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to fix it.
