Tricks and tips to get the perfect Myrtle Beach vacation rental experience:
When to go & When to book:
- Summer is the most expensive season in Myrtle Beach. Reserve your Myrtle Beach vacation in the Spring or Fall to get the benefit of gorgeous weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to book an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the high season. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
- The sooner your group can book a vacation rental, the easier your search will be. The best vacation homes are booked early. Reserving your vacation rental 6-12 months before your travel dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to plan and book your rental.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner whether your group qualifies for a special promotion or discount.
- Property management companies often offer their guests an option to purchase vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed vacation time as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for details.
- Look for your local visitors guide when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, visitors guides contain discounts for local accommodations, tours and attractions.
Planning and choosing the perfectrental:
- Select a group leader, choose your trip dates, and select a max budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your group needs. Beach-Pools-Relaxing-King Bed-Clean-Comfy-WiFi has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rentals search.
- Specific details about bedrooms and bed counts is normally accessible on booking pages. Otherwise, contact the property manager before you reserve the vacation property. Note that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which often includes pull out couches in living rooms. You will need to work out what bed configuration is best for your trip.
- If there's a specific Myrtle Beach attraction you crave, keep an eye out for properties that are either close by, or those that cater to your requirements.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. Confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before reserving a rental.
- If your family is traveling with pets, filter your search for a pet-friendly property. Make sure to ask for details on breed, weight, and type requirements. Be aware that some property owners charge pet deposits and fees.
Advice for your stay:
- Put the manager's contact information in your smartphone.
- During arrival, note any issues with the property and immediately contact the host. Record all correspondence just in case a dispute arises.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, intercom or thermostat. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief telephone call can prevent quite a few issues.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like troublesome vacationers bothering your peaceful neighborhood. Apply the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great beaches and places you would've not otherwise known about!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Residents can usually point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to spend a rainy day, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Lock your rental property while you're away! Don't let thieves spoil your holiday.
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, take a walk through the rental to make sure you've collected all of your things. Check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Did you have a terrific vacation? Most rental websites make it easy for vacationers to provide comments. If your rental property and/or property manager was wonderful, they would love to hear about it. If anything was imperfect and they failed to correct it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
