Rental property booking tips:
Getting the best rental home value:
- Summer is high season in Myrtle Beach. Booking a rental in Spring or Fall is one of our best tips for saving money on your vacation. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of acceptable homes.
- The sooner you can book a rental home, the better your selection will be. The most desirable vacation homes are reserved early. Reserving your vacation home six to twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to search for and reserve your rental home.
- Some hosts offer discounts for veterans and active duty military. Check with your property manager to see if rate reductions are available for your group.
- Booking websites usually offer customers an option to buy trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which usually will cost you anywhere between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for program terms and fees.
- Look for your local Myrtle Beach visitors guide magazine upon arrival. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, travel guide magazines have deals for nearby attractions, tours, restaurants, and shops.
Finding the best rental home in Myrtle Beach:
- Start by having your group commit to a vacation week and a max budget.
- Determine how many beds and the bed configuration your family needs. Beach-Pools-Relaxing-King Bed-Clean-Comfy-WiFi has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Specific details about bedrooms and bed counts is regularly available on booking websites. If not, contact the host before you book the vacation property. Note that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which usually includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You will need to establish what configuration is right for your vacation.
- Are you looking for specific amenities? Most websites include search filters for amenities.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Confirm all necessary amenities are included before booking.
- Traveling with pets? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Remember to ask your host before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Additional pet fees or costs might be applied to your agreement.
Have a wonderful stay:
- Add the host's contact info to your smartphone. Print and take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
- To make sure that damages aren't attributed to your family's visit, make note of any problem areas when you arrive. Contact the property manager right away to record your findings. If there is a dispute, having the recorded problems and contact attempts will be valuable.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a hot tub, stereo or washer/dryer. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief call prevents lots of issues.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You'll magnify your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors can be an incredible source for finding the best local beaches and hangouts.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Residents can typically point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to order delicious takeout, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Lock your rental home while you're out. Keep your property safe!
- On check-out day, take a walk-through to confirm you have not leave anything behind. Make sure to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Did your family have a wonderful stay? Many vacation rental websites make it easy for guests to provide comments. If your rental and/or host was great, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was defective and they failed to address it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
