Tips and Tricks for getting the best Myrtle Beach vacation property experience:
Sticking to your spending plan:
- Summertime is high season in Myrtle Beach. Booking a rental in the Spring or Fall is an excellent way to save on your vacation. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of desirable homes. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to reserve an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer.
- In the Myrtle Beach area, The sooner your group can book a rental home, the better your selection will be. The best rental homes are reserved early. Booking your vacation rental up to twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to search for and book your rental property.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner or host if your family qualifies for a special promotion or discount.
- Management companies and individual rental owners typically offer renters an option to purchase trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for specifics.
- Find a copy of your local visitors guide when you check-in. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, travel guide magazines have offers and deals for local accommodations, restaurants and tours.
Use filters to search efficiently:
- Start by selecting your potential vacation weeks and a maximum budget.
- Decide how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your group needs. Oceanview Efficiency DW408 has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rentals search.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is regularly available online. If you don't see them listed, reach out to the property manager before reserving the rental. Remember that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which usually includes pull out couches in living rooms.
- Looking for particular amenities? Most websites include search filters for amenities. Filtering by amenity will allow you to quickly find your ideal rental home.
- Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with a disability. Remember to confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before reserving a rental
- Some rental properties allow pets, and others do not. Acceptable types of family pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and added fees may apply. Ask the property manager about pet restrictions before booking.
Know before you go:
- Add the owner's information to your phone. Print and take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
- Upon check-in, record any damages to the property and immediately contact the property manager. Keep records of all correspondence just in case a dispute arises.
- Property managers are there to help! Feel free to ask any questions during your stay.
- Respecting quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You will enhance your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are usually a terrific source for finding the best local attractions.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Residents can typically help. Who better to ask where to get the best seafood, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
- Protect the property owner (and your things!) by locking and securing the home while you are away, just like you would at home.
- Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, take a walk through the rental property to reconfirm you've collected all of your things. Make sure to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Go through the rental one final time and scan for damage. We recommend walking through with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the host is not available, remember to take photos and video of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- Did you have a great stay? Many rental managers make it easy for travelers to provide feedback. If your rental property and/or host was wonderful, they would love to hear it. If anything was imperfect and they failed to fix it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
