Tips and Tricks to get the perfect vacation home experience:
When to book a Myrtle Beach rental home & When to go:
- Summertime is the most expensive season along the coast of SC. Booking your vacation home in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons is our best tip for saving money on your rental home. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of acceptable properties.
- The sooner you can reserve a vacation home, the easier your search will be. The best rental properties are reserved very early. Reserving your rental property up to 12 months before your vacation dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to plan and book your vacation rental.
- Some property management companies offer discounts or promotional rates for veterans. Check with your host or property manager to see if special discounts are available for your group before you book.
- Property managers often offer renters an option to add trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed trip time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for more information.
- Find a copy of your local Myrtle Beach area magazine upon checking in. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, travel guides have deals for local restaurants, attractions, and tours.
Choosing the best vacation home in Myrtle Beach:
- Choose vacation dates and spending budget.
- Determine how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your group requires. OctoBliss @ SeaWatch - Oceanfront has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
- Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed counts & types is generally available online. Otherwise, email the host before booking the vacation home. Remember that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds. You will need to determine what is optimal for your vacation family.
- Are you looking for specific amenities? Most rental search websites include search filters with amenity lists.
- Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. Make certain to ask about wheel chair accessibility, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
- If your family is traveling with pets, you'll need to search for a pet-friendly vacation rental. Make sure to ask for specifics on breed, weight, and type requirements. Often, hosts require additional pet deposits and fees.
More tips for your stay:
- Take a copy of the owner's contact number and arrival/departure procedures for your .
- At Check-in, note any issues with the rental property and immediately alert the host. Keep records of all correspondence in case a dispute arises.
- Hosts are great sources of help! Feel free to ask any questions during your stay.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like obnoxious visitors disrupting your life at home. Use the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great beaches and places you would have never otherwise known about!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Residents can usually point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to find the fresh catch of the day, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Lock your rental property while you're out! Don't let burglars spoil your trip.
- Double-check the property to make sure that you've packed everything at departure. Make sure to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Please make sure to walk through the property one final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We advise walking through with the property manager whenever possible. If the property manager is not available, ensure that you take video of the rental to record its condition.
- After your trip, leave a review! Property managers rely on good ratings to inspire future reservations. They'll be much obliged for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went awry, other vacationers will will be grateful for your review and help them have the best future vacation. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to solve it.
