Tips and Tricks to get the perfect Myrtle Beach vacation property experience:
When to visit Myrtle Beach & When to book:
- June, July, and August are high season in the Myrtle Beach area. To get the best value, consider changing your family's Myrtle Beach vacation dates to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and even October offer excellent temperatures, less crowded beaches, and greatly reduced traffic.
- Reserve your vacation rental as early as possible. Rental schedules often open a year in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many families book their Summer vacations during Christmas and Thanksgiving gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective host if your family qualifies for a special promotion or discount.
- Property management companies often offer renters an option to buy trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed trip time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for more information.
- Many rental management companies supply Myrtle Beach area travel guides which will include coupons, either offered independently by local companies, or through a relationship between the management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
Use filters to narrow your search:
- Start by selecting potential vacation weeks and a spending budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration you need. OD Tower I #32, beautiful ocean view condo +pool has 1 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Specific details about bedrooms and bed counts is almost always available on booking websites. If they are not listed, contact the property manager before reserving your rental. Remember that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds and bunks.
- Visiting for a single event or attraction? If so, use a map search to locate nearby properties.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. Make certain to inquire about wheel chair entry, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
- If your family is traveling with pets, search for a rental that allows animals. Make sure to ask for information on breed, weight, and type requirements. Be aware that some hosts charge additional pet fees.
Additional considerations:
- Add the owner's contact information to your smartphone. Take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
- Note any damages to the rental during check in, and immediately e-mail them to the owner. We especially recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that are useful if there is a dispute.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, television set or appliance. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief phone call prevents lots of difficulties.
- Respecting quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay more pleasurable. You will enhance your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are a fantastic resource to find the best local scenic spots.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Residents can usually point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to order delicious takeout, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Ensure you protect the property owner (and your things!) by keeping the rental locked up while you are out, just like you would at home.
- Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, take a walk through the rental to reconfirm you've collected all of your things. Make sure to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Inspect the property one final time and scan for any damage. We suggest walking through with the property manager whenever you can. If the host isn't available, take video of the property to record its condition.
- Leave a review! Property managers rely on excellent reviews to stimulate future bookings. They'll be grateful for your review. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other vacationing families will will be grateful for your feedback and help them have the best future vacation. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to remedy it.
