Tips for getting the best Myrtle Beach vacation home experience:
Get the most from your rental home budget:
- The sooner you can reserve a vacation home, the easier your search will be. The best vacation rentals are reserved very early. Reserving your rental up to twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to plan and book your rental.
- Summer months are the most expensive season in coastal SC. Booking your Myrtle Beach vacation rental in Fall or Spring is our favorite way to save money on your vacation. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of desirable homes. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective host if your family qualifies for a discount.
- Property management companies often offer customers an option to buy vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which usually will cost you between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed trip time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for more information.
- Look for your local Myrtle Beach area magazine upon checking in. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, visitors guides contain deals for nearby accommodations and attractions.
Make a plan and choose yourrental home:
- To start, have your group select a vacation week and a max budget.
- Decide how many beds and the bed configuration your family needs. One minute drive to beach with golfcart! Updated, beach decor & clean! has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Specific details about bedrooms and bed counts is usually available on booking websites. If not, email or call the property management company before booking the property. Remember that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which usually includes pull out couches in living rooms. You'll need to establish what is suitable for your vacation.
- If your family is vacationing with pets, filter your search for a property that allows animals. Request details on breed, weight, and type requirements. Note that some property owners require additional pet deposits and fees.
- Looking for specific amenities? Most rental websites include search filters with amenity lists. Use these filters to your advantage to find the perfect rental home.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. .
Advice for a great stay:
- Review check in & check out procedures before leaving home. Take a printed copy, and add a note with the instructions to your phone.
- Hosts are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask questions during your stay.
- Keep your rental home locked while you are gone! Don't let burglars spoil your vacation.
- Make a record of any issues with the property during check in, and immediately send them to the host. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are beneficial if damages are assessed.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disagreeable visitors disrupting your peace. Practice the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great local food and attractions you would've not otherwise known!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Locals can typically help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to go for the best drinks, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, walk through the rental to confirm you've collected all of your things. Make sure to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Leave a review! Hosts rely on excellent reviews to inspire future reservations. They'll be thankful for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other vacationers will will be grateful for your experience and help them have the best future vacation. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to fix it.
