Tips and Tricks to get the optimal vacation property experience:
Sticking to a spending plan:
- To get the largest vacation home within your budget, we strongly suggest booking in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons. You'll enjoy lower rental rates, better selection, warm weather and the absence of giant crowds at Myrtle Beach restaurants, tours, and activities. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to book a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer.
- In the Myrtle Beach area, The sooner you can book a rental home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable rental properties are booked very early. Booking your rental property up to 12 months before your travel dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to search for and book your vacation home.
- Property managers sometimes offer discounts for veterans and active duty military. It's always a good idea to check with your host or property manager to see if special offers are available for your group before you book.
- Property management companies typically offer guests an option to obtain trip insurance. Trip insurance, which will generally cost 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for days missed as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for additional information.
- Find a copy of your local visitors guide upon checking in. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, visitors guides have discounts for local tours, shops, and attractions.
Planning, picking, and booking your prefect Myrtle Beach rental:
- Begin by choosing your vacation dates and a max budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your group requires. One minute drive to beach with golfcart! Updated, beach decor & clean! has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is generally available on booking pages. If not, email or call the property manager before you book the home. Note that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull-out couches.
- Is your group looking for particular amenities? Most websites include search filters with amenity lists. Filtering by amenity will allow you to quickly find the best rental.
- Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. .
- If your family is traveling with pets, you must book a rental that allows animals. Make sure to ask for information on breed, size, and type requirements. Be aware that some property owners charge pet deposits and fees.
Know before you go:
- Get the owner's contact number and entry/exit procedures for your rental home. We recommend storing the manager's information in your smartphone.
- Make a record of any damages to the rental during check in, and immediately e-mail them to the property manager. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that can be very helpful if there is a dispute.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, intercom or kitchen appliance. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief phone call can prevent many problems.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You'll magnify your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are usually an excellent source for finding the best local scenic spots.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Residents can typically point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to order the best nachos, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
- Ensure you protect the property owner (and your things!) by locking and securing the home while you are away, just like you would back home.
- Just prior to departing, take a walk-through to confirm you didn't forget any personal items. Check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Inspect the property one final time and scan for any damage. We suggest walking through with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the manager isn't available, remember to take video of the property to record its condition.
- Leave feedback! Hosts rely on great feedback to stimulate future bookings. They'll be thankful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other vacationers will be thankful you shared your review and help them have the best future vacation. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to remedy it.
