Strategies to get the perfect Myrtle Beach vacation home experience:
Get the most from your budget:
- Reserve your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually become available a year in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families book their Summer vacation rentals during holiday get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Summer months are the most expensive season in Myrtle Beach. To find the best value, change your vacation to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and October offer great weather, , and greatly reduced traffic. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner if your family qualifies for a special rate.
- Property management companies usually offer renters an option to purchase trip insurance. Trip insurance, which will generally cost 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for days missed as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for additional information.
- Look for your local visitors guide when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great information, visitor guide magazines have offers and deals for nearby tours, shops, and attractions.
Choosing the perfect rental home:
- Choose a group leader, choose your dates, and select a spending budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your group needs. Pristine Condo Magnificent Ocean View, Lots of Upgrade has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is regularly available on booking websites. If they are not listed, email or call the property owner before reserving the home. Remember that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds in living rooms. You'll need to work out what configuration is best for your vacation family.
- If your group is vacationing with pets, search for a rental that allows animals. Request details on breed, weight, and type requirements. Some hosts charge additional pet fees.
- Visiting for a specific attraction or event? Use a map search to browse nearby rentals.
- Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with a disability. Confirm all required amenities are included before booking.
More tips for your stay:
- Take a copy of the owner's contact number and check in/check out procedures for your rental home. We recommend storing the host's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, elevator or thermostat. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief telephone call prevents lots of concerns.
- Ensure you protect the rental owner (and your stuff!) by keeping the rental locked up when you are out, just like you would at home.
- During check-in, make note of any damages to the property and immediately contact the property manager. Keep records of all coorespondence.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You'll increase your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are usually a terrific resource to find the best local beaches and hangouts.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Residents can usually point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to find the fresh catch of the day, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
- At departure, complete a walk-through to confirm you have not forget anything. Make sure to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Walk through the property one final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We suggest inspecting the property with the host whenever possible. If the property manager isn't available, take photos and video of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- Did your family have a fantastic time? Most rental websites make it easy for clients to provide reviews. If your property and/or property management company was terrific, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was wrong and they failed to fix it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
