Tricks and tips to get the best rental experience:
Cost saving strategies:
- The sooner you can reserve a home, the better your selection will be. The best vacation homes are booked very early. Booking your vacation property six - twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental home.
- Summer months are high season in the Myrtle Beach area. To find the best value, shift your vacation dates to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and October offer pleasant weather, less crowded beaches, and reduced traffic. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
- Some property management companies offer discounts for veterans. Remember to ask your property manager if rate reductions are available for your group before you book.
- Property managers typically offer renters an option to obtain trip insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for more information.
- Find a copy of your local visitors guide upon checking in. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, travel guides have money saving offers on nearby accommodations, restaurants and tours.
Choosing the best vacation home:
- First and foremost, have your group choose vacation dates and a maximum budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and the bed configuration you need. Pristine Oceanfront Myrtle Beach 2 Bedroom Condo Free WiFi and Parking has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is commonly accessible on booking pages. If they are not listed, email or call the host before you reserve the vacation home. Remember that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which often includes pull out couches in living rooms. You'll need to determine what configuration is best for your group.
- Are you bringing the family pet? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Ask your host before booking, and study your agreement! Pet fees or costs may be applied to your invoice.
- If there's a particular Myrtle Beach attraction you are crazy about, search for rentals that are either near by, or those that cater to your needs.
- Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. Make certain to inquire about wheel chair entry, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
More tips for your stay:
- Add the owner's contact information to your phone. Understand and take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, stereo or coffee maker. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief call can prevent a lot of difficulties.
- Ensure you protect the owner (and your things!) by locking the property when you are gone, just like you would back home.
- During check-in, record any damages to the rental property and immediately contact the owner. Keep records of all correspondence just in case a dispute arises.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like loud vacationers bothering your life at home. Use the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great beaches and scenic spots you would've not otherwise known!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Local residents can usually help. Who better to ask where to find the best bike paths, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
- Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, take a walk through the property to make sure you've collected all personal items. Re-check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Go through the property a final time and keep an eye out for damage. We advise walking through with the host whenever you can. If the property manager isn't available, ensure that you take photos and video of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- Did your family have a terrific vacation? Most rental websites make it easy for vacationers to provide feedback. If your property and/or property management company was wonderful, they would love to hear it. If anything was defective and they failed to address it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
