How to find the best vacation property experience:
Get the most from your vacation rental budget:
- Summertime is the most expensive season in the Myrtle Beach area. To get the best rental home within budget, we recommend booking in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons. You'll enjoy lower rates, greater selection, beautiful weather and the absence of large crowds at popular attractions and restaurants. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to reserve a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable during June, July, and August. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
- Book your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules often become available a year in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many groups reserve their Summer vacation rentals during Winter holiday get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Some property management companies offer discounts or promotional rates for veterans. Ask your host or property manager if special discounts are available for your family.
- Booking websites often offer customers an option to add trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for specifics.
- Look for your local Myrtle Beach visitors guide magazine when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local information, travel guide magazines contain discounts for nearby attractions, tours, restaurants, and shops.
How to select the best vacation home in the Myrtle Beach area:
- First and foremost, have your group choose vacation dates and a maximum budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your family needs. Raised Beach house\/Golf Cart\/Hot tub\/Arcade\/BAR\/Pool table has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rental home search.
- Specific details about bedrooms and bed counts & types is usually accessible on booking pages. If they are not listed, call the host before you book the vacation home. Note that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds and bunks.
- Visiting for a single event or attraction? Try a map search to locate nearby rentals.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. Make certain to ask about wheel chair accessibility, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
- If your family is traveling with pets, you must reserve a pet-friendly rental. Make sure to ask for details on breed, size, and type restrictions. Be aware that some property managers require additional pet deposits and fees.
More tips for your stay:
- Add the owner's contact information to your phone. Print and take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
- To make certain that damages aren't linked to your visit, inspect for any problem areas upon your arrival. text the host immediately to relay any issues. If there is a dispute, having the recorded concerns and contact attempts will be helpful.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, elevator or WIFI setup. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief phone call can prevent many problems.
- Be respectful of your neighbors. Often times, adjacent homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking regulations is the right thing to do.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Residents can often point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to enjoy a steak with a view, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
- Protect the rental owner (and your things!) by locking and securing the home while you are gone, just like you would back home.
- Re-check the property to make sure that you've packed all of your belongings at departure. Re-check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Go through the rental one final time and look for damages to contents or the property itself. We advise inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the manager is not available, ensure that you take video and pictures of the rental to record its condition.
- Remember to leave a review! Hosts rely on good reviews to drive new reservations. They'll be grateful for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other vacationers will will be grateful for your experience and help them have the best future vacation. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to remedy it.
