Myrtle Beach rental home booking tips:
How to get the best rental home value:
- The earlier your group can book a vacation home, the better your selection will be. The most desirable rental homes are booked very early. Reserving your rental property six - twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to plan and book your vacation rental.
- Booking a rental in Fall or Spring is our best tip for saving money on your vacation home. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of suitable properties. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to book a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the high season.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager if your family qualifies for a price reduction.
- Booking websites typically offer guests an option to purchase vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which generally will cost between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed vacation time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for additional information.
- Look for your local Myrtle Beach visitors guide magazine when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, travel guides have money saving offers on local restaurants, attractions, and tours.
How to choose the perfect vacation rental in Myrtle Beach:
- Choose a designated group leader, choose your vacation dates, and select a max budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration you need. Double Queen Condo with Jacuzzi Tub-Oceanfront Views! Boardwalk 135 has 2 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
- Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed counts & types is often accessible on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, email or call the property management company before reserving the vacation home. Note that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds in living rooms.
- Some rental properties allow pets, and some do not. Acceptable types of dog or cat, size and breeds may be restricted, and added costs may apply. Ask the host about pets before booking.
- If there's a certain Myrtle Beach beach you are crazy about, keep an eye out for homes that are either nearby, or those that cater especially to your requirements.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with disabilities. Make certain to inquire about wheel chair accessibility, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
During your stay:
- Put the owner's contact information in your smartphone.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, television set or coffee maker. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief call can prevent many difficulties.
- Ensure you protect the owner (and your things!) by keeping the rental locked up while you are gone, just like you would at home.
- At Check-in, note any issues with the property and immediately alert the owner. Record all coorespondence.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disagreeable visitors disrupting your peaceful home. Use the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great beaches and attractions you would've never otherwise known about!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can usually help. Who better to ask where to rent beach equipment, have a great night out, or the best spots for fishing?
- At departure, complete a walk-through to make sure you did not forget any personal items. Re-check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Did your group have a great vacation? Many vacation rental websites make it easy for vacationers to provide comments. If your property and/or property manager was terrific, they would love to hear it. If anything was inoperable and they failed to correct it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
