Our top Vacation rental tips and tricks:
Getting the most from your rental home budget:
- Summer is high season in the Myrtle Beach area. To find the best value, try changing your group's vacation dates to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and even October offer great temperatures, fewer crowds, and greatly reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to reserve a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the high season. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
- The earlier your group can book a rental home, the better your selection will be. The best vacation rentals are reserved early. Reserving your vacation home up to 12 months before your vacation dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to plan and book your vacation rental.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager or host whether your vacationing group qualifies for a discount.
- Management companies and individual rental owners usually offer their guests an option to obtain vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which will generally cost 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed time as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for program terms and fees.
- Look for your local Myrtle Beach visitors guide upon arrival. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great information, visitors guide magazines contain deals for nearby restaurants, attractions, and tours.
Choosing the best vacation rental in Myrtle Beach:
- Choose a group leader, select your dates, and choose a maximum budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and the configuration your group needs. Last minute discount for July 4th week! 1 block to beach! has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rental home search.
- Specific details about bedrooms and bed counts is normally available online. Otherwise, call the property management company before you reserve your rental. Remember that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which often includes pull out couches in living rooms. You will need to determine what is right for your trip.
- Does your family require particular amenities? Most websites include search filters with amenity lists.
- Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. .
- Some rental properties allow pets, and others don't. Acceptable types of pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and added costs may apply. Ask the property manager about pet restrictions before booking.
More considerations for your visit:
- Store the owner's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
- During arrival, make note of any damages to the property and immediately contact the property manager. Record all correspondence in case a dispute arises.
- Hosts are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Respect the neighborhood. Often, adjacent homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking regulations can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Local residents can typically help. Who better to ask where to get the best breakfast in town, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Keep the property locked while you are out! Don't let crooks spoil your holiday.
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, walk through the property to confirm you've collected everything. Remember to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Please make sure to walk through the rental one final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We recommend inspecting the property with the property manager whenever possible. If the host isn't available, ensure that you take photos of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- Did you have a fantastic vacation? Most vacation rental websites make it easy for travelers to provide feedback. If your rental and/or property manager was wonderful, they would love to hear about it. If anything was wrong and they failed to address it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
