Tips for getting the perfect Myrtle Beach vacation home experience:
Get the best rental value:
- The sooner your group can book a rental home, the better your selection will be. The most desirable properties are booked very early. Reserving your rental home six to twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to plan and book your rental.
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months along the coast of SC. Booking your Myrtle Beach vacation rental in Spring or Fall is our favorite way to save money on your vacation. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of suitable homes. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective host if your group qualifies for a special promotion or discount.
- Management companies and individual rental owners typically offer guests an option to buy vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which will generally cost between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for more information.
- Often, rental management companies and vacation rental houses supply Myrtle Beach area travel guide magazines which often include money-saving deals, either offered directly by local companies, or through a relationship between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Myrtle Beach visitors guide and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
Planning and picking the perfect Myrtle Beach rental home:
- Choose vacation week and budget.
- Decide how many beds and the configuration your group needs. Beautiful 2 bedroom condo near the lazy river and beach has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Specific details about bedrooms and bed types is generally available on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, email the property management company before reserving the vacation property. Note that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds in living rooms. You'll need to determine what is suitable for your vacation group.
- Are you traveling with furry, four-legged family members? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Ask your host before booking, and study your rental agreement! Extra fees or costs may be applied to your invoice.
- Visiting for a specific event? Use a map search to locate nearby properties.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Confirm all required amenities are available before booking
Know before you go:
- Add the property manager's information to your smartphone. Understand and take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
- Hosts are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask any questions during your stay.
- Ensure you protect the owner (and your things!) by locking the rental while you are out, just like you would at home.
- To make certain that no damages are linked to your stay, make note of any problem areas when you arrive. Make contact with the host immediately to relay any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having a record of problems and contact attempts will be very helpful.
- Be a good neighbor. Frequently, adjacent homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking rules is the right thing to do.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Locals can typically help. Who better to ask where to order delicious takeout, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Re-check the vacation property to make sure that you've packed everything at departure. Re-check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Inspect the property a final time and look for any damage. We suggest inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can. If the host is not available, take video and pictures of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- Did your family have a wonderful time? Many rental management companies make it easy for vacationers to provide reviews. If your rental and/or host was great, they would love to hear it. If anything was imperfect and they failed to address it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
