Vacation rental home tips:
Sticking to your rental budget:
- The sooner you can reserve a vacation rental, the easier your search will be. The most desirable vacation rentals are booked very early. Booking your vacation rental up to 12 months before your vacation dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to search for and reserve your rental home.
- Summer time is high season in Myrtle Beach. To find the best value, change your vacation to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and even October offer excellent temperatures, less crowded beaches, and greatly reduced traffic.
- Hosts sometimes offer rate reductions for veterans. Ask your host or property manager if discounts are available for your family.
- Management companies and individual rental owners often offer renters an option to purchase trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed trip time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for additional information.
- Often, property management companies and vacation rental houses supply Myrtle Beach area travel guides which will include special deals, either offered independently by local businesses, or by way of a relationship with the management company and the business itself. You can also find Myrtle Beach visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
Make a plan and pick your prefectvacation home:
- Select a group lead, choose your trip dates, and choose a budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and the bed configuration your family requires. River Oaks 1306 condo in resort has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed counts & types is commonly available on booking pages. If they are not listed, reach out to the property manager before booking your rental. Note that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You will need to establish which bed configuration is best for your group.
- Some rental properties allow pets, but others don't. Acceptable types of dog or cat, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional charges may apply. Ask the owner about pet restrictions before booking.
- If there's an individual Myrtle Beach destination you simply love, search for homes that are either nearby, or those that cater especially to your needs.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with disabilities. Confirm all necessary amenities are included before reserving a rental.
Additional considerations:
- Review check in & check out procedures before leaving home. Add a note with the instructions to your phone, and take a printed copy.
- Property managers are available to help! Don't be shy to ask questions during your stay.
- Lock your vacation home while you are away. Protect your property!
- To make certain no damages are linked to your stay, inspect the rental for any problem areas upon check in. Make contact with the property manager immediately to report any damages. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having the recorded concerns and contact attempts will be valuable.
- Be respectful of your neighbors. Often, nearby homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking rules reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Locals can usually help. Who better to ask where to find the best bike paths, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Double-check every room of the rental property to make sure that you've packed all belongings at check-out. Re-check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Go through the rental one final time and scan for damages to contents or the property itself. We suggest inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the manager isn't available, ensure that you take video and pictures of the rental to record its condition.
- Did your group have a wonderful time? Most rental managers make it easy for customers to provide reviews. If your rental property and/or property management company was great, they would love to hear it. If anything was imperfect and they failed to address it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
