Myrtle Beach rental booking tips and tricks:
When to visit Myrtle Beach & When to book:
- Booking a rental in Spring or Fall is a good way to save on your vacation rental. Rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of suitable properties.
- The sooner your group can book a rental home, the easier your search will be. The best vacation homes are booked very early. Reserving your rental property up to 12 months before your vacation is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to search for and reserve your rental.
- Some hosts offer promotional rates for veterans. Check with your property manager to see if special discounts are available for your family.
- Management companies and individual rental owners typically offer their guests an option to add vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed vacation time as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for more information.
- Find a copy of your local Myrtle Beach visitors guide when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, visitor guide magazines have money saving offers on local accommodations, restaurants and tours.
Planning and picking your prefect Myrtle Beach rental home:
- Begin by choosing your a vacation week and a max budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and the configuration your group requires. Just added, views of the ocean and a rain shower has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Specific details about bedrooms and bed counts & types is almost always available online. Otherwise, call the property owner before you reserve the vacation property. Note that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds in living rooms. You'll need to establish what bed configuration is best for your trip.
- If there's a specific Myrtle Beach beach you are crazy about, keep an eye out for properties that are either nearby, or those that cater especially to your needs.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. Make certain to ask about wheel chair entry, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
- Traveling with pets? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your agreement! Additional fees or costs applied to your invoice.
More considerations:
- Add the owner's contact info to your phone. Understand and take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
- Note any issues with the property at check in, and immediately e-mail them to the property manager. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are valuable if a dispute is filed.
- Hosts are there to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions during your stay.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like unpleasant visitors disrupting your quiet neighborhood. Employ the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great local food and attractions you would've never otherwise known!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Neighbors can usually help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to find the best seashells, have a great night out, or the best spots for fishing?
- Lock your rental home while you're out and about. Protect your property!
- On check-out day, take a walk-through to confirm you have not forget anything. Re-check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Did you have a great stay? Most rental managers make it easy for vacationers to provide reviews. If your rental and/or host was terrific, they would love to hear about it. If anything was wrong and they failed to correct it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
