How to find the best Myrtle Beach vacation property experience:
Finding the best value:
- Reserve your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules generally open a year in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many groups book their Summer rental homes during Winter holiday get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Summer months are the most expensive season in coastal SC. Reserve your Myrtle Beach rental home in Fall or Spring months to get the benefit of gorgeous weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to reserve an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer months. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective vacation rental company or host if your vacationing group qualifies for a price reduction.
- Booking websites typically offer their guests an option to add trip insurance. Trip insurance, which normally will cost you between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for more information.
- Many rental management companies and vacation rental houses supply Myrtle Beach area visitor guide magazines which include money-saving deals, either offered independently by local companies, or by way of a relationship between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.
Selecting the best rental home in the Myrtle Beach area:
- Choose vacation week and spending budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your family needs. Sea Glass by the Sea in Ocean Lakes, 5 Bdr 3 Ba has 5 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
- Specific information about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is commonly available on booking pages. Otherwise, reach out to the host before you reserve the rental. Remember that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds in living rooms. You'll need to establish what is best for your trip.
- If your family is bringing pets, filter your search for a pet-friendly property. Request information on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Be aware that some property managers charge additional pet fees.
- Is your group looking for particular amenities? Most websites include amenity lists and search filters. Filtering by amenity will allow you to quickly find the best rental.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. Confirm all necessary amenities are available before reserving a rental
More tips for your stay:
- Add the property manager's contact info to your smartphone. Understand and take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, intercom or coffee maker. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief text message prevents many concerns.
- Ensure you protect the property owner (and your stuff!) by locking the property when you are away, just like you would at home.
- To make certain that damages aren't attributed to your stay, make note of any problem areas when you arrive. Get in touch with the property manager right away to report your findings. If there is a dispute, having the recorded issues and contact attempts will be valuable.
- Be a good neighbor. Often times, surrounding homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Neighbors can frequently point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to charter a fishing boat, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
- Double-check every room of the rental property to confirm that you've packed all of your belongings at check-out. Make sure to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Walk through the property a final time and look for damage. We suggest walking through with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the property manager is not available, remember to take pictures of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- Did you have a wonderful vacation? Most rental websites make it easy for customers to provide comments. If your property and/or host was terrific, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was wrong and they failed to fix it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
