Tips for getting the perfect Myrtle Beach rental experience:
How to get the best rental home value:
- Book your vacation rental as early as possible. Rental schedules usually become available a year in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families book their Summer rental homes during holiday gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- To find the best value, change your vacation dates to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and even October offer warmer weather, fewer crowds, and reduced traffic.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective vacation rental company or host if your group qualifies for a reduced rate.
- Property management companies usually offer guests an option to buy trip insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for more information.
- Often, rental management companies and vacation rental houses supply Myrtle Beach area travel guides which include special deals, either offered independently by local companies, or through a partnership between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
Use filters to narrow your search:
- Select a group lead, choose your trip dates, and choose a maximum budget.
- Note the number beds and the configuration you need. See the views from this oceanfront condo on the 19th floor!! has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Myrtle Beach vacation rental search.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is regularly available on booking pages. Otherwise, email or call the property management company before reserving your rental. Remember that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds and bunks. You will need to determine what is optimal for your vacation.
- Some rentals allow pets, but some don't. Allowable types of pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and added fees may apply. Ask the property management company about pets before booking.
- Are you looking for unique amenities? Most rental search websites include search filters with amenity lists. Amenity filters help you quickly remove less-optimal properties.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. Confirm all required amenities are available and included before booking.
More tips for your stay:
- Be sure you get the property manager's phone number and check in/check out procedures for your rental home. Put the host's contact information in your smartphone.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, elevator or thermostat. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief telephone call prevents quite a few problems.
- Lock your rental property while you're gone! Don't let burglars spoil your holiday.
- To ensure that damages aren't attributed to your visit, make a record of any problem areas during check in. E-mail the host immediately to report any issues. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having a record of concerns and contact attempts will be helpful.
- Respecting quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay more pleasurable. You will increase your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are usually a great resource to find the best local beaches and hangouts.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Local residents can usually help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to enjoy a steak with a view, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Just before checking out, complete a walk-through to make sure you haven't forget anything. Make sure to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Did your group have a wonderful vacation? Most vacation rental websites make it easy for clients to provide comments. If your rental property and/or property manager was great, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was amiss and they failed to address it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
