How to find the best rental experience:
Sticking to a rental budget:
- Reserve your vacation home as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families book their Summer rentals during Winter holiday gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- To find the largest rental within your budget, we recommend reserving in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons. You'll benefit from lower rates, greater selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of giant crowds at the beach and popular Myrtle Beach attractions. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with loved ones at the beach.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner if your vacationing group qualifies for a discount.
- Booking websites typically offer guests an option to purchase trip insurance. Trip insurance, which generally will cost between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for specifics.
- Find a copy of your local Myrtle Beach area magazine upon checking in. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, visitors guides have coupons for local tours and attractions.
How to pick the best rental in Myrtle Beach:
- Select your dates and spending budget.
- Decide how many beds and the bed configuration your family requires. Serene Surfside Escape - A446 at The Myrtle Beach Resort has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is generally available online. If they are not listed, reach out to the property manager before you book the property. Remember that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds and bunks. You will need to establish what is best for your family.
- If your family is bringing pets, you'll need to book a pet-friendly vacation rental. Request details on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Usually, property managers charge additional pet fees.
- Visiting for a single attraction or event? Try a map search to browse nearby rentals.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. Remember to confirm all necessary amenities are available before reserving a rental
Considerations for your stay:
- Add the host's information to your smartphone. Understand and take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, television set or WIFI setup. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief phone call prevents lots of problems.
- Keep the property locked while you are away! Don't let burglars spoil your trip.
- Document any damages to the property at check in, and immediately contact the property manager. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are helpful if damages are assessed.
- Respecting quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You will increase your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are an incredible source for finding the best local beaches and restaurants.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Locals can usually help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to go for the best drinks, have a great night out, or the best spots for fishing?
- Don't leave anything behind! Before you drive away, take a walk through the rental to make sure you've collected all personal items. Make sure to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Did your family have a wonderful vacation? Most rental websites make it easy for vacationers to provide reviews. If your rental and/or host was wonderful, they would love to hear about it. If anything was out of order and they failed to address it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
