Vacation rental tips and tricks:
Money saving strategies:
- Reserve your vacation rental as early as possible. Rental schedules generally open twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families book their Summer vacations during Winter holiday gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months in Myrtle Beach. To book the best rental home for your budget, we strongly suggest reserving in Fall or Spring. You'll enjoy lower rental rates, greater selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of large crowds at your favorite Myrtle Beach restaurants and activities.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner whether your vacationing group qualifies for a price reduction.
- Management companies and individual rental owners frequently offer renters an option to purchase trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for days missed as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for additional information.
- Look for your local Myrtle Beach area magazine when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great articles, travel guide magazines contain offers and deals for local accommodations, restaurants and tours.
Make a plan and pick the perfect Myrtle Beach vacation home:
- Select a group lead, choose your dates, and choose a budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and the configuration your group requires. Seventh Heaven: Oceanfront King Suite on the 7th Floor has 2 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our vacation rental search.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is often accessible on booking pages. If they are not listed, call the host before you book the property. Remember that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds in living rooms. You'll need to establish what configuration is optimal for your trip.
- If your family is vacationing with pets, you'll need to book a pet-friendly vacation rental. Ask for information on breed, weight, and type requirements. Usually, property owners charge pet deposits and fees.
- Are you visiting for a specific event or attraction? If so, use a map search to find nearby properties.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Confirm all necessary amenities are available before reserving a rental.
Additional considerations:
- Be sure you get the host's phone number and entry/exit procedures for your rental property. We recommend storing the manager's contact information in your smartphone.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, stereo or coffee maker. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief phone call prevents many problems.
- Keep your rental home locked while you're away! Don't let burglars spoil your vacation.
- During arrival, document any issues with the property and immediately contact the property manager. Record all coorespondence.
- Be respectful of your neighbors. Frequently, surrounding homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting noise limits and parking rules is the right thing to do.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Local residents can often point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to find the fresh catch of the day, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, take a walk through the rental to confirm you've collected all personal belongings. Remember to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Go through the rental a final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We advise inspecting the property with the property manager whenever possible. If the manager isn't available, take photographs of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- Did your group have a wonderful time? Many rental managers make it easy for travelers to provide reviews. If your rental and/or host was great, they would love to hear it. If anything was amiss and they failed to address it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
