Strategies to get the perfect Myrtle Beach vacation property experience:
How to get the best rental home value:
- Reserve your vacation rental as early as possible. Rental schedules often become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families book their Summer vacation rentals during Christmas and Thanksgiving gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Summer months are high season in the Myrtle Beach area. Reserve your Myrtle Beach rental in Spring or Fall to enjoy warm weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to reserve an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer months. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
- Hosts sometimes offer special rates for active duty military and veterans. It's always a good idea to check with your host or property manager to see if discounts are available for your group.
- Property managers often offer renters an option to add trip insurance. Trip insurance, which costs between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed days as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for program terms and fees.
- Look for your local Myrtle Beach area magazine upon checking in. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, visitors guide magazines have deals for local restaurants, attractions, and tours.
Make a plan and pick your prefectvacation home:
- Start by having your group select dates and a budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your group requires. Shoreline Oceanfront Three Bedroom Condo 6th Flr has 4 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Specific information about bedrooms and bed counts is commonly accessible on booking websites. Otherwise, email the property management company before reserving the home. Remember that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which frequently includes pull-out couches. You'll need to determine what configuration is best for your trip.
- Some rental properties allow pets, but others do not. Acceptable types of dog or cat, weight and breeds may be restricted, and added fees may apply. Ask the owner about allowable breeds and types before booking.
- Visiting for a specific attraction or event? Try a map search to locate nearby rentals.
- Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. Remember to confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before booking
Know before you go:
- Review check in & check out procedures before traveling. Add a note with the directions to your smartphone, and take a printed copy.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, stereo or thermostat. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief telephone call can prevent lots of problems.
- Keep your rental home locked while you're gone! Don't let burglars spoil your family vacation.
- To make sure damages aren't attributed to your family's stay, record any problem areas during arrival. Make contact with the property manager right away to record your findings. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having the recorded problems and contact attempts will be useful.
- Be respectful. Frequently, surrounding homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking policies is the right thing to do.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Neighbors can frequently help. Who better to ask where to launch your kayaks, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, take a walk through the rental to reconfirm you've collected all personal items. Check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Did your group have a wonderful vacation? Many rental management companies make it easy for guests to provide reviews. If your property and/or property management company was great, they would love to hear about it. If anything was wrong and they failed to fix it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
