Our top Rental booking tips and tricks:
Find your perfect rental:
- Booking a rental in the Fall or Spring is our best tip for saving money on your vacation rental. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of acceptable properties. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with loved ones at your favorite beach.
- The earlier your group can book a vacation home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable rental properties are reserved very early. Reserving your rental up to twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to plan and book your rental.
- Owners sometimes offer discounts or promotional rates for veterans and active duty military. Remember to ask your host or property manager if special offers are available for your family before you book.
- Management companies and individual rental owners often offer customers an option to purchase trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed days as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for details.
- Find a copy of your local visitors guide when you check-in. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, visitors guides have deals for nearby accommodations, restaurants and tours.
Choosing and booking a perfect Myrtle Beach rental home:
- Select a designated group leader, select your dates, and choose a budget.
- Note the number beds and the bed configuration your group needs. SIPPING ON SUNSHINE\/OCEANFRONT\/PRIME LOCATION has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is often accessible on booking pages. If they are not listed, call the property management company before booking the home. Remember that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which often includes pull out couches in living rooms. You will need to establish what configuration is optimal for your group.
- Visiting for a specific attraction? Use a map search to find nearby properties.
- Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. Confirm all necessary amenities are available before reserving a rental.
- Are you traveling with furry, four-legged family members? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your agreement! Pet fees or costs may be applied to your invoice.
Know before you go:
- Add the owner's information to your phone. Take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
- Make a record of any damages to the rental during check in, and immediately contact the owner. We especially recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that are useful if a dispute is filed.
- Hosts are there to help! Don't be shy to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like troublesome visitors bothering your peace and quiet. Practice the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great local food and places you would've not otherwise known about!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can typically help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to charter a fishing boat, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
- Lock your rental while you're away. Protect your property!
- Double-check the property to confirm that you've packed all of your belongings at check-out. Re-check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Inspect the property one final time and scan for damage. We suggest walking through with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the property manager isn't available, ensure that you take photos of the rental to record its condition.
- Did your group have a fantastic time? Most rental websites make it easy for vacationers to provide feedback. If your property and/or host was wonderful, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was imperfect and they failed to fix it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
