Vacation rental booking tips:
Sticking to a rental budget:
- Summer time is high season in Myrtle Beach. Reserving a rental home in the Spring or Fall is our best tip for saving money on your vacation home. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of desirable homes. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to book a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer months. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
- The earlier your group can reserve a vacation rental, the easier your search will be. The best vacation rentals are booked very early. Booking your rental up to 12 months before your vacation dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to plan and book your vacation home.
- Owners sometimes offer discounts or promotional rates for active duty military and veterans. Remember to ask your host or property manager if special discounts are available for your family before you book.
- Booking websites often offer their guests an option to buy trip insurance. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for specifics.
- Look for your local visitors guide when you check-in. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, visitors guides have money saving offers on local tours and attractions.
How to choose the perfect vacation rental in Myrtle Beach:
- Select vacation week and maximum budget.
- Decide how many beds and the configuration your family requires. SIPPING ON SUNSHINE\/OCEANFRONT\/PRIME LOCATION has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our vacation rental search.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is often accessible online. If you don't see them listed, email the property manager before you book the vacation home. Note that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull-out couches and bunk beds.
- Are you visiting for a single event? Use a map search to find nearby rentals.
- Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. Confirm all necessary amenities are available before reserving a rental
- Traveling with pets? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Remember to ask your host before booking, and study your agreement! Pet fees or charges may be applied to your agreement.
More considerations:
- Take a copy of the owner's phone number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental property. Store the manager's information in your smartphone and wallet.
- To ensure that no damages are attributed to your family's stay, inspect for any problem areas upon check in. Contact the property manager immediately to record any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having a record of concerns and contact attempts will be useful.
- Property managers are great sources of help! Feel free to ask questions during your stay.
- Respecting quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You'll enhance your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are a fantastic resource to find the best local scenic spots.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Residents can often help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to launch your kayaks, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Ensure you protect the owner (and your things!) by keeping the rental locked up while you are away, just like you would at home.
- Upon check-out, complete a final walk-through to make sure you didn't leave anything behind. Re-check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Please make sure to walk through the property one final time and look for any damage. We advise inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the property manager is not available, remember to take photos and video of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- Did your group have a great time? Many vacation rental websites make it easy for customers to provide feedback. If your property and/or host was fantastic, they would love to hear it. If anything was imperfect and they failed to address it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
