Myrtle Beach rental home booking tips and tricks:

Getting the best rental home value:

  • June, July, and August are high season in Myrtle Beach. To book the largest rental within budget, we suggest reserving in Fall or Spring months. You'll benefit from lower rates, better selection, warm weather and the absence of giant crowds at your favorite restaurants and activities. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to book a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
  • The earlier you can book a rental home, the better your selection will be. The most desirable properties are reserved early. Reserving your rental property six to twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to search for and reserve your rental home.
  • Hosts and Property managers sometimes offer discounts for active duty military and veterans. Make sure to check with your property manager to see if rate reductions are available for your group.
  • Booking websites often offer their guests an option to add vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally will cost between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any days missed as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for additional information.
  • Many management companies supply Myrtle Beach area travel guide magazines which often include special offers, either offered independently by local businesses, or through a partnership between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Myrtle Beach visitors guide and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.

How to choose the best vacation rental in the Myrtle Beach area:

  • Begin by selecting your trip dates and a budget.
  • Note the number bedrooms and the bed configuration you need. Southern Comfort Views Junior Suite 1st FL has 2 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is generally available on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, email the property manager before you reserve the vacation home. Note that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds in living rooms.
  • Does your family require special amenities? Most websites include search filters for amenities. Filtering by amenity will allow you to quickly find your ideal rental.
  • Suitable accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for persons with disabilities. Make certain to inquire about wheel chair entry, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
  • Some properties allow pets, and some do not. Acceptable types of dog or cat, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional charges may apply. Ask the owner about allowable breeds and types before booking.

Some things to know before you go:

  • Take a copy of the host's contact number and check in/check out procedures for your .
  • Upon arrival, record any issues with the property and immediately contact the owner. Keep records of all coorespondence.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a hot tub, intercom or coffee maker. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief telephone call prevents quite a few problems.
  • Respecting quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. You'll enhance your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors can be a great source for finding the best local restaurants, beaches, and hangouts.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Locals can often point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to enjoy a steak with a view, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
  • Lock your rental property while you are gone! Don't let thieves spoil your trip.
  • Just prior to departing, complete a walk-through to confirm you did not forget anything. Check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • Did your group have a excellent stay? Most rental managers make it easy for guests to provide reviews. If your rental and/or property management company was great, they would love to hear it. If anything was defective and they failed to fix it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
