Getting the best Myrtle Beach vacation property experience:
Cost saving strategies:
- Reserve your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules often open a year in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many groups reserve their Summer rentals during Thanksgiving and Christmas get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months along the coast of SC. To book the largest rental within budget, we suggest booking in the Fall or Spring. You'll benefit from lower rental rates, greater selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of giant crowds at the beach and popular attractions.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager whether your family qualifies for a special promotion or discount.
- Management companies and individual rental owners frequently offer guests an option to purchase trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for details.
- Find a copy of your local Myrtle Beach area magazine upon arrival. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, travel guides have discounts for nearby accommodations, restaurants and tours.
Choosing the best rental in the Myrtle Beach area:
- Choose your vacation dates and max budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and the configuration your family requires. Southern Charm: 2B 2B Ocean View & Beach Access has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rental home search.
- Specific information about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is almost always available on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, email the host before you reserve the vacation home. Note that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which usually includes pull out couches in living rooms.
- Are you traveling with furry, four-legged family members? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your rental agreement! Extra fees or charges could be applied to your agreement.
- Does your family require special amenities? Most rental websites include search filters for amenities. Filtering by amenity will allow you to quickly find the best rental home.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. Confirm all necessary amenities are included before booking.
Have a fantastic stay:
- Add the property manager's information to your phone. Understand and take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, intercom or washer/dryer. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief phone call prevents quite a few problems.
- Ensure you protect the rental owner (and your stuff!) by locking and securing the home while you are away, just like you would back home.
- During arrival, document any damages to the property and immediately contact the owner. Record all correspondence just in case a dispute arises.
- Respecting quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay more pleasurable. You will magnify your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors can be a fantastic resource to find the best local beaches and restaurants.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Local residents can often help. Who better to ask where to go for the best drinks, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Just before checking out, take a final walk-through to confirm you didn't forget any personal items. Re-check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Inspect the rental a final time and look for any damage. We suggest walking through with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the manager isn't available, remember to take photos and video of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- Did your family have a wonderful stay? Many rental websites make it easy for vacationers to provide comments. If your rental and/or property management company was terrific, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was imperfect and they failed to correct it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
