Getting the best vacation property experience:
Finding your best deal:
- Summer time is high season in the Myrtle Beach area. Reserve your Myrtle Beach rental property in the Fall or Spring to get the benefit of gorgeous weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with loved ones at the beach.
- Reserve your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules generally become available a year in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families reserve their Summer vacations during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective vacation rental company or host if your family qualifies for a special rate.
- Property management companies often offer customers an option to purchase trip insurance. Trip insurance, which will generally cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for more information.
- Often, property management companies and vacation rental houses supply Myrtle Beach area visitor guide magazines which include special offers, either offered independently by local businesses, or through a relationship with the management company and the business itself. You can also find Myrtle Beach area magazine and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
How to pick the perfect rental in the Myrtle Beach area:
- Start by having your family select dates and a budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and the bed configuration your group needs. Bright & Beautiful \/ Oceanview \/ Dogs OK has 2 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
- Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is often accessible on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, call the host before booking the vacation home. Remember that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds in living rooms. You'll need to determine which bed configuration is best for your vacation group.
- If there's a certain Myrtle Beach destination you are enamored with, browse properties that are either close by, or those that cater to your needs.
- Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. .
- Some rentals allow pets, but others do not. Allowable types of family pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional charges may apply. Ask the owner about pet restrictions before booking.
Know before you go:
- Review arrival and departure procedures before leaving home. Save the directions to your smartphone, and take a printed copy.
- Document any issues with the rental during check in, and immediately e-mail them to the property manager. We especially recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that are helpful if damages are attributed to your stay.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, A/V setup or appliance. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief call prevents quite a few issues.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like troublesome visitors bothering your peaceful home life. Practice the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great beaches and scenic spots you would have not otherwise known about!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Local residents can typically help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to enjoy a steak with a view, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Lock your rental while you're away. Protect the owner's property and your stuff!
- Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, walk through the rental to make sure you've collected everything. Make sure to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- After your trip, leave feedback! Property managers rely on good reviews to inspire more reservations. They'll be thankful for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other vacationing families will appreciate that you share your review and help them have the best future vacation. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to solve it.
