Vacation rental tips and tricks:
Sticking to your spending budget:
- Summer time is high season in the Myrtle Beach area. To book the largest rental home within your budget, we recommend booking in the Fall or Spring. You'll enjoy lower rental rates, greater selection, beautiful weather and the absence of large crowds at your favorite restaurants and activities. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer months. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
- In the Myrtle Beach area, The earlier your group can reserve a home, the better your selection will be. The most desirable rental homes are booked early. Booking your vacation home up to twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental property.
- Some property managers offer special rates for active duty military and veterans. Ask your property manager if special offers are available for your family.
- Property management companies typically offer their guests an option to obtain vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for days missed as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for additional information.
- Find a copy of your local Myrtle Beach visitors guide when you check-in. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local articles, travel guides have money saving offers on nearby tours, shops, and attractions.
How to choose and book the right Myrtle Beach rental home:
- Select your dates and max budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration you need. Spacious Ocean View King Suite w\/ Balcony + Beach Access has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our search.
- Specific information about bedrooms and bed counts & types is almost always available on booking pages. Otherwise, call the property management company before booking your home. Note that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds and bunks. You will need to determine which bed configuration is suitable for your group.
- Visiting for a single event? If so, use a map search to find nearby properties.
- Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for those with limited mobility. Confirm all necessary amenities are included before reserving a rental.
- If your group is vacationing with pets, you must reserve a pet-friendly rental. Make sure to ask for specifics on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Often, property managers charge additional pet fees.
Tips for your stay:
- Add the owner's information to your phone. Print and take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
- To make certain that no damages are linked to your stay, make note of any problem areas upon check in. Make contact with the rental manager right away to document your findings. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having the recorded problems and contact attempts will be helpful.
- Hosts are there to help! Don't be shy to ask questions during your stay.
- Respect the neighborhood. Frequently, surrounding homes are filled by local residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking policies reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Local residents can often point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to charter a fishing boat, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Lock your rental home while you are away. Protect your property!
- Re-check the property to confirm that you've packed all belongings at check-out. Make sure to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Inspect the property a final time and scan for damages to contents or the property itself. We recommend walking through with the property manager whenever you can. If the property manager isn't available, remember to take pictures of the property to record its condition.
- Remember to leave a review! Property managers rely on good feedback to stimulate new reservations. They'll be much obliged for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other vacationers will will be grateful for your experience find their best rental home. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to solve it.
