Tricks and tips to get the very best vacation home experience:
Get the most from your spending budget:
- Summer is the most expensive season along the coast of SC. To get the best value, consider shifting your group's vacation dates to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and October offer excellent weather, fewer crowds, and greatly reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to book an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the high season.
- Reserve your vacation home as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many groups book their Summer vacations during Christmas and Thanksgiving get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Property managers sometimes offer rate reductions for veterans and active duty military. Remember to ask your property manager if special discounts are available for your family.
- Property managers frequently offer guests an option to purchase vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which commonly costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed days as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for more information.
- Look for your local Myrtle Beach visitors guide when you check-in. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local information, visitor guides have deals for nearby shops and restaurants.
How to choose the best vacation rental in Myrtle Beach:
- Choose a group leader, choose your vacation dates, and choose a spending budget.
- Determine how many beds and the configuration your family requires. Beautifully Renovated 1 BR Condo-Stunning Ocean Views- Ocean Forest 801 has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is often accessible on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, email or call the property management company before you reserve the property. Remember that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which usually includes pull out couches in living rooms. You'll need to establish what configuration is optimal for your trip.
- If there's a particular Myrtle Beach beach you are enamored with, search for homes that are either close by, or those that cater to your desires.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. Confirm all required amenities are included before booking.
- Some rental properties allow pets, but others do not. Allowable types of pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and added costs may apply. Ask the property management company about pet restrictions before booking.
Considerations for your stay:
- Review arrival and departure procedures before traveling. Take a printed copy, and add a note with the instructions to your phone.
- Note any issues with the rental during check in, and immediately e-mail them to the property manager. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that are beneficial if damages are attributed to your stay.
- Property managers are great sources of help! Feel free to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. You'll magnify your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are usually a terrific resource to find the best local spots.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Neighbors can frequently help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to charter a fishing boat, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Ensure you protect the property owner (and your things!) by locking the rental when you are gone, just like you would back home.
- At departure, take a final walk-through to confirm you did not forget anything. Re-check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Did your group have a terrific vacation? Most vacation rental websites make it easy for clients to provide reviews. If your property and/or host was wonderful, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was defective and they failed to correct it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
