Tips to get the very best Myrtle Beach vacation home experience:
Get the best value:
- Book your vacation home as soon as possible. Rental schedules generally become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many families reserve their Summer rental homes during holiday get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Summer time is high season in the Myrtle Beach area. Book your rental in Spring or Fall to enjoy gorgeous weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with friends and family at your favorite beach.
- Some hosts and property managers offer rate reductions for veterans and active duty military. Check with your host or property manager to see if special offers are available for your family.
- Property management companies usually offer their guests an option to purchase vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which will generally cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for details.
- Look for your local Myrtle Beach visitors guide magazine upon arrival. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, visitor guide magazines have discounts for nearby tours, shops, and attractions.
Choosing the perfect vacation home:

- Remember to include your furry companions! Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Remember to ask the property manager before booking, and study your agreement! Additional fees or charges may be applied to your invoice.

- Lock your vacation home while you're away. Protect the owner's property and your things!
- To make certain damages are not linked to your stay, make note of any problem areas during check in. Speak to the host immediately to record your findings. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having the recorded concerns and contact attempts will be valuable.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like obnoxious visitors disrupting your life at home. Apply the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great local food and places you would've not otherwise known!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Residents can often point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to order delicious takeout, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, take a walk through the rental property to make sure you've collected all personal items. Re-check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Go through the rental one final time and look for any damage. We advise inspecting the property with the property manager whenever possible. If the property manager isn't available, ensure that you take photos and video of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- Remember to leave feedback! Property managers rely on good feedback to propel more reservations. They'll be grateful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other families will will be grateful for your feedback and help them have the best future vacation. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to solve it.
