Tips to get the best vacation home experience:
Find your perfect vacation home:
- Reserve your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules often become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families reserve their Summer vacations during Christmas and Thanksgiving gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months along the coast of SC. To get the best value, consider shifting your group's vacation dates to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and October offer excellent weather, , and reduced traffic. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with friends and family at your favorite beach.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property management company or host whether your family qualifies for a special promotion or discount.
- Booking websites typically offer renters an option to add vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which commonly costs 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed days as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for more information.
- Look for your local Myrtle Beach visitors guide magazine upon checking in. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, visitors guides contain coupons for local attractions, tours, restaurants, and shops.
Use filters to search efficiently:
- To start, have your family commit to dates and a spending budget.
- Note the number beds and what type of bedroom configuration your group requires. Steps to Atlantic Ocean and Currents Water Park located in a gated community. has 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
- Precise details about bedrooms and bed counts is normally available on booking pages. Otherwise, call the property management company before reserving the property. Remember that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull out couches in living rooms.
- Some rentals allow pets, but others do not. Allowable types of family pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and added fees may apply. Ask the property manager about allowable breeds and types before booking.
- If there's a particular Myrtle Beach attraction you crave, look for properties that are either close by, or those that cater to your desires.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with disabilities. Remember to confirm all necessary amenities are available before booking
More tips for your stay:
- Review arrival and departure procedures before traveling. Save the directions to your smartphone, and take a printed copy.
- Property managers are available to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Ensure you protect the property owner (and your stuff!) by keeping the rental locked up when you are out, just like you would at home.
- During arrival, make note of any issues with the property and immediately alert the owner. Keep records of all coorespondence.
- Respect your neighbors. Often, nearby homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting noise limits and parking policies reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Residents can typically help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to get the best seafood, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Re-check every room of the property to make sure that you've packed all belongings on check-out day. Re-check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Inspect the rental one final time and scan for damage. We recommend inspecting the property with the host whenever possible. If the property manager is not available, take photos of the rental to record its condition.
- Leave feedback! Hosts rely on good reviews to drive new reservations. They'll be thankful for your review. Alternatively, if something went awry, other vacationers will appreciate that you share your review and help them have the best future vacation. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to remedy it.
