Strategies to get the perfect Myrtle Beach rental experience:
Getting the best rental value:
- Book your vacation rental as early as possible. Rental schedules often become available a year in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families book their Summer rentals during Christmas and Thanksgiving get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- To find the best value, consider changing your group's vacation dates to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and even October offer warmer temperatures, , and greatly reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to book an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during June, July, and August. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with friends and family at your favorite beach.
- Some owners offer rate reductions for active duty military and veterans. Remember to ask your host or property manager if special offers are available for your group before you book.
- Booking websites often offer renters an option to add trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for program terms and fees.
- Find a copy of your local Myrtle Beach visitors guide upon checking in. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, visitors guide magazines contain deals for nearby shops and restaurants.
Make a plan and pick your Myrtle Beach rental home:
- Choose vacation week and budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration you need. Perfect Snowbird Getaway near The Beach, Broadway & Mini Golf Parks w\/ Parking! has 2 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
- Specific information about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is generally accessible on booking pages. If not, email the property owner before booking the property. Note that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes pull-out couches.
- Some rentals allow pets, and some don't. Allowable types of pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional costs may apply. Ask your host about allowable pet guidelines before booking.
- If there's an individual Myrtle Beach beach you are crazy about, browse rentals that are either close by, or those that cater especially to your desires.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. .
Have a great stay:
- Review check in & check out procedures before leaving home. Add a note with the directions to your phone, and take a printed backup.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, television set or kitchen appliance. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief text message can prevent lots of concerns.
- Lock your rental home while you're away. Keep your property safe!
- Make a record of any issues with the rental at check in, and immediately contact the property manager. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are useful if a dispute is filed.
- Respect your neighbors. Frequently, nearby homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking rules is the right thing to do.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Local residents can frequently help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to find the best bike paths, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Re-check the property to make sure that you've packed all of your family's items at departure. Check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Go through the property one final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We advise walking through with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the host isn't available, ensure that you take video and pictures of the property to record its condition.
- Did you have a great vacation? Most vacation rental websites make it easy for travelers to provide comments. If your rental property and/or host was great, they would love to hear about it. If anything was out of order and they failed to address it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
