Getting the best Myrtle Beach rental home experience:
When to book a Myrtle Beach rental & When to go:
- Reserve your vacation home as soon as possible. Rental schedules generally become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many groups book their Summer rental homes during Christmas and Thanksgiving gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Booking a rental in Fall or Spring is an excellent way to save on your vacation rental. Rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of acceptable properties. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property management company or host whether your group qualifies for a special promotion or discount.
- Property management companies typically offer guests an option to purchase trip insurance. Trip insurance, which will generally cost 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed trip time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for program terms and fees.
- Often, rental management companies and vacation rental houses supply Myrtle Beach area travel guides which include money-saving deals, either offered independently by local businesses, or through a relationship with the property management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.
Planning and choosing the perfect Myrtle Beach rental home:
- Start by choosing potential vacation weeks and a maximum budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and the bed configuration your family needs. Summer Joy is booking for 2023 has 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
- Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is almost always available on booking websites. If they are not listed, contact the property owner before you book your rental. Note that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You will need to work out what is optimal for your vacation family.
- Some rentals allow pets, and some don't. Acceptable types of family pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional costs may apply. Ask the host about allowable breeds and types before booking.
- If there's an individual Myrtle Beach destination you crave, search for homes that are either nearby, or those that cater to your needs.
- Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with a disability. Confirm all necessary amenities are available before booking.
Some things to know before you go:
- Take a copy of the property manager's phone number and entry/exit procedures for your rental property.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, intercom or thermostat. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief call prevents a lot of issues.
- Ensure you protect the owner (and your things!) by keeping the rental locked up while you are gone, just like you would back home.
- At Check-in, record any issues with the rental property and immediately alert the owner. Keep records of all correspondence in case a dispute arises.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like obnoxious vacationers disrupting your peace and quiet. Use the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great beaches and attractions you would have never otherwise known about!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Locals can typically help. Who better to ask where to get the best breakfast in town, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
- Just before checking out, complete a final walk-through to make sure you have not forget any personal items. Re-check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Did you have a excellent vacation? Most rental home management companies make it easy for vacationers to provide comments. If your property and/or property manager was wonderful, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was out of order and they failed to address it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
