Vacation rental booking tips and tricks:
Getting the best rental value:
- Summer is the most expensive season in coastal SC. To get the best rental home within budget, we recommend booking in Spring or Fall. You'll benefit from lower rental rates, greater selection, beautiful weather and the absence of giant crowds at your favorite restaurants and activities. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer months.
- In the Myrtle Beach area, The sooner your group can reserve a home, the better your selection will be. The best rental properties are booked early. Booking your rental 6-12 months before your travel dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to plan and book your rental property.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective vacation rental company or host if your family qualifies for a price reduction.
- Property managers usually offer guests an option to obtain vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally will cost you anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed time as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for specifics.
- Find a copy of your local Myrtle Beach visitors guide magazine upon checking in. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local stories, travel guide magazines contain discounts for nearby accommodations, restaurants and tours.
Planning and choosing the bestrental:
- Select a designated group leader, choose your trip dates, and choose a budget.
- Note the number beds and what type of bedroom configuration your family requires. Short Walk to Beach, Sleeps 14, Backyard Dining Area! has 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our vacation rental search.
- Precise information about bedrooms and bed counts is generally available online. If they are not listed, contact the host before you book the home. Remember that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which often includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You'll need to determine which bed configuration is suitable for your vacation group.
- Visiting for a specific event? Use a map search to browse nearby rentals.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Confirm all required amenities are available and included before booking.
- Are you bringing the family pet? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Extra fees or applied to your agreement.
More tips for your visit:
- Store the host's information in your smartphone.
- At Check-in, record any issues with the rental property and immediately alert the owner. Keep records of all coorespondence.
- Property managers are great sources of help! Feel free to ask questions during your stay.
- Respecting quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You'll enhance your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are usually an incredible resource to find the best local attractions.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can frequently help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to enjoy a steak with a view, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Lock your rental while you're away. Protect the owner's property and your stuff!
- Upon check-out, take a final walk-through to make sure you did not leave anything behind. Make sure to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Go through the rental a final time and scan for any damage. We suggest inspecting the property with the host whenever possible. If the property manager isn't available, take pictures of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- Did your group have a wonderful time? Many rental managers make it easy for travelers to provide comments. If your property and/or host was terrific, they would love to hear it. If anything was inoperable and they failed to address it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
