Tips for getting the best vacation property experience:
Cost saving strategies:
- In the Myrtle Beach area, The sooner your group can reserve a vacation rental, the easier your search will be. The best rental homes are reserved very early. Booking your rental home up to 12 months before your travel dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to search for and reserve your vacation home.
- To find the largest rental home within your budget, we suggest booking in Fall or Spring months. You'll enjoy lower rental rates, greater selection, warm weather and the absence of giant crowds at the beach and popular attractions. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to reserve a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during June, July, and August.
- Hosts and Property managers sometimes offer discounts for veterans. Ask your property manager if discounts are available for your family before you book.
- Booking websites usually offer customers an option to add trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for specifics.
- Look for your local Myrtle Beach area magazine upon checking in. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great information, travel guide magazines contain discounts for local accommodations, restaurants and tours.
Use filters to search efficiently:
- Choose your vacation dates and maximum budget.
- Note the number beds and what type of bedroom configuration you need. Beach*2BR*Pool*Walk to Attractions*FREE Tickets*M34 has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our vacation rental search.
- Specific information about bedrooms and bed types is normally available on booking pages. If not, call the property manager before reserving the rental. Remember that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds.
- If your group is vacationing with pets, you'll need to book a pet-friendly property. Request information on breed, size, and type restrictions. Be aware that some property owners charge pet deposits and fees.
- Visiting for a single event or attraction? Try a map search to browse nearby rentals.
- Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. Make certain to inquire about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
Additional considerations:
- Be sure you get the owner's phone number and check in/check out procedures for your rental property. Store the manager's information in your smartphone.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, television set or kitchen appliance. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief text message prevents quite a few problems.
- Ensure you protect the owner (and your stuff!) by locking the rental while you are out, just like you would back home.
- To ensure that damages aren't attributed to your visit, make a record of any problem areas during arrival. Get in touch with the property manager right away to relay any damages. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having a record of issues and contact attempts will be helpful.
- Respecting quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You will enhance your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are a great resource to find the best local beaches.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Residents can frequently point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to order the best nachos, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, take a walk through the rental to make sure you've collected all belongings. Remember to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Inspect the property a final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We suggest inspecting the property with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the manager isn't available, remember to take photos and video of the property to record its condition.
- Leave feedback! Hosts rely on excellent ratings to drive future reservations. They'll be much obliged for your review. Alternatively, if something went awry, other vacationers will will be grateful for your feedback and help them have the best future vacation. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to remedy it.
