Our top Myrtle Beach rental property booking tips and tricks:
Get the best value:
- Summer months are high season in Myrtle Beach. To get the most suitable rental home within your budget, we recommend reserving in Fall or Spring months. You'll enjoy lower rental rates, greater selection, beautiful weather and the absence of giant crowds at Myrtle Beach restaurants, beaches, and activities. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
- Reserve your vacation rental as early as possible. Rental schedules generally become available a year in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many families reserve their Summer vacation rentals during holiday get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Property managers sometimes offer special rates for active duty military and veterans. It's always a good idea to check with your host or property manager to see if special discounts are available for your group before you book.
- Management companies and individual rental owners typically offer their guests an option to purchase trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed days as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for details.
- Find a copy of your local Myrtle Beach area magazine upon checking in. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great information, visitors guides contain deals for local accommodations and attractions.
Use filters to narrow your search:
- Select a designated group leader, choose your dates, and choose a max budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and the bed configuration your group needs. T208 at The Myrtle Beach Resort: Beautiful Ocean View Condo has 2 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
- Precise information about bedrooms and bed counts is normally available on booking pages. If they are not listed, email the host before reserving the vacation property. Remember that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds in living rooms.
- Looking for specific amenities? Most rental websites include amenity lists and search filters.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. .
- Are you bringing the family pet? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Additional fees or charges applied to your contract.
Advice for your stay:
- Get the owner's contact number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental home. Store the manager's information in your smartphone.
- During check-in, note any issues with the rental property and immediately alert the property manager. Keep records of all coorespondence.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a hot tub, A/V setup or washer/dryer. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief telephone call prevents quite a few problems.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like unpleasant visitors bothering your peace. Apply the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great local food and scenic spots you would've not otherwise known!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Residents can frequently help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to book the best tours, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Ensure you protect the rental owner (and your things!) by locking and securing the home when you are out, just like you would at home.
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, walk through the rental to reconfirm you've collected all belongings. Re-check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Please make sure to walk through the rental a final time and keep an eye out for damage. We advise walking through with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the property manager isn't available, take video and pictures of the rental to record its condition.
- Did you have a terrific time? Many rental management companies make it easy for clients to provide feedback. If your property and/or host was great, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was wrong and they failed to correct it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
