Strategies to get the perfect rental home experience:
How to get the best rental home value:
- Summer time is high season in the Myrtle Beach area. Booking your vacation home in Fall or Spring is a good way to save on your vacation home. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of acceptable properties.
- Book your vacation home as soon as possible. Rental schedules often become available a year in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups reserve their Summer rental homes during Christmas and Thanksgiving get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Owners sometimes offer discounts or promotional rates for active duty military and veterans. Ask your property manager if discounts are available for your group.
- Booking websites usually offer customers an option to add vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which generally will cost you between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed days as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for more information.
- Find a copy of your local Myrtle Beach area magazine when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, visitor guide magazines have deals for nearby accommodations, tours and attractions.
Make a plan and choose the right Myrtle Beach rental home:
- Start by choosing the best vacation week and a spending budget.
- Determine how many beds and the bed configuration your family needs. The Beach House 1183. Ocean View. Pet\/family friendly. Walk to the beach. has 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
- Specific information about bedrooms and bed counts is often available online. Otherwise, email or call the property manager before reserving the vacation home. Note that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds in living rooms.
- Is your group looking for particular amenities? Most websites include amenity lists and search filters. Use these to your advantage to find the perfect rental home.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with disabilities. Make certain to inquire about wheel chair entry, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
- Do your family pets travel with you? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Ask your host before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Additional fees or may be applied to your invoice.
Additional considerations:
- Review check in & check out procedures before traveling. Take a printed copy, and save the instructions to your phone.
- Document any damages to the property upon arrival, and immediately e-mail them to the host. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that are valuable if a dispute is filed.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, elevator or appliance. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief phone call can prevent lots of difficulties.
- Respecting quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay more pleasurable. You will magnify your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are usually an incredible resource to find the best local beaches and restaurants.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Local residents can often help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to order the best nachos, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
- Lock your rental property while you're gone! Don't let thieves ruin your trip.
- At departure, take a final walk-through to confirm you have not leave anything behind. Make sure to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Go through the property one final time and look for damage. We suggest walking through with the host whenever you can. If the manager isn't available, remember to take photographs of the property to record its condition.
- Did your family have a terrific time? Many rental home management companies make it easy for guests to provide feedback. If your rental property and/or property manager was terrific, they would love to hear about it. If anything was out of order and they failed to address it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
