Strategies to get the optimal vacation property experience:
Get the most from your rental home budget:
- To get the best value, try shifting your trip dates to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and even October offer excellent temperatures, , and greatly reduced traffic.
- Reserve your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules often become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups book their Summer rentals during holiday gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Some hosts offer rate reductions for veterans and active duty military. Make sure to check with your host or property manager to see if special offers are available for your group before you book.
- Property managers usually offer their guests an option to obtain vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which generally will cost between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for specifics.
- Look for your local Myrtle Beach visitors guide upon checking in. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, travel guide magazines have offers and deals for nearby accommodations and attractions.
Make a plan and pick your prefect Myrtle Beach vacation home:
- Begin by choosing a vacation week and a maximum budget.
- Note the number beds and the bed configuration your family requires. The Grand Myrtle \/ BAY VIEW 1503 \/ New Remodel has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is often accessible on booking websites. If they are not listed, email the property manager before you reserve your rental. Remember that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which typically includes pull out couches in living rooms.
- Visiting for a specific attraction or event? Use a map search to locate nearby rentals.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. Remember to confirm all necessary amenities are available before booking
- Some properties allow pets, but others do not. Allowable types of pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and added costs may apply. Ask the property management company about allowable pet guidelines before booking.
Know before you go:
- Review arrival and departure procedures before leaving home. Take a printed copy, and save the directions to your phone.
- To make certain that damages aren't linked to your family's visit, record any problem areas upon your arrival. Make contact with the host right away to report your findings. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having a record of concerns and contact attempts will be very helpful.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, A/V setup or thermostat. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief call can prevent a lot of difficulties.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You'll increase your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors can be an incredible resource to find the best local scenic spots.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Neighbors can usually help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to order delicious takeout, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
- Ensure you protect the rental owner (and your things!) by keeping the rental locked up while you are away, just like you would at home.
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, take a walk through the rental to make sure you've collected all of your things. Remember to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Go through the property a final time and scan for damage. We recommend walking through with the property manager whenever possible. If the manager is not available, take photos of the rental to record its condition.
- Did your group have a wonderful time? Many rental management companies make it easy for customers to provide comments. If your property and/or host was terrific, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was wrong and they failed to fix it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
