Tips to get the optimal rental home experience:
Sticking to your budget:
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months in coastal SC. To get the most suitable rental for your budget, we recommend booking in the Fall or Spring. You'll enjoy lower rental rates, greater selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of giant crowds at local restaurants, tours, and activities. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to reserve an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the high season.
- Book your vacation rental as early as possible. Rental schedules often become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families book their Summer vacations during Christmas and Thanksgiving get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Owners sometimes offer discounts or promotional rates for veterans and active duty military. Remember to ask your property manager if special discounts are available for your group.
- Management companies and individual rental owners frequently offer customers an option to buy vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which usually will cost you anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any days missed as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for specifics.
- Many rental management companies and vacation rental houses supply Myrtle Beach area visitors guide magazines that include money-saving offers, either offered independently by local companies, or by way of a relationship with the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Myrtle Beach visitors guide and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
Finding the best vacation home:
- First and foremost, have your group select the best dates and a maximum budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and the configuration you need. UPGRADED 3\/2 OCEAN VIEW SAND DUNES, MYRTLE BEACH! has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Specific information about bedrooms and bed types is almost always accessible online. If you don't see them listed, contact the host before you book the vacation home. Remember that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds in living rooms.
- Visiting for a single event? Use a map search to browse nearby properties.
- Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. Make certain to ask about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
- Some rental properties allow pets, and others do not. Allowable types of pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and added charges may apply. Ask the property manager about allowable pet guidelines before booking.
Advice for a wonderful stay:
- Review check in & check out procedures before leaving home. Save the instructions to your phone, and take a printed copy.
- During arrival, document any issues with the property and immediately alert the host. Record all correspondence in case a dispute arises.
- Hosts are there to help! Don't be shy to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Be respectful of your neighbors. Frequently, surrounding homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting noise limits and parking policies reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Residents can typically help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to get the best breakfast in town, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Lock your rental home while you're away. Protect the owner's property and your things!
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, take a walk through the rental property to reconfirm you've collected all personal belongings. Re-check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Inspect the property a final time and look for damages to contents or the property itself. We advise walking through with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the manager isn't available, take pictures of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- Did you have a great time? Most rental home management companies make it easy for clients to provide reviews. If your rental property and/or property management company was great, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was inoperable and they failed to correct it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
