Tips for getting the perfect Myrtle Beach vacation rental experience:
Find your perfect vacation home:
- In the Myrtle Beach area, The sooner your group can book a vacation rental, the better your selection will be. The most desirable rental homes are booked very early. Booking your vacation home six to twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to search for and book your vacation home.
- Summer is the most expensive season along the coast of SC. Book your Myrtle Beach rental in Fall or Spring months to enjoy beautiful weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to reserve an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer months.
- Property management companies sometimes offer discounts for active duty military and veterans. Ask your property manager if special offers are available for your family.
- Property management companies typically offer renters an option to add trip insurance. Trip insurance, which usually costs between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed vacation time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for more information.
- Find a copy of your local Myrtle Beach visitors guide when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local information, travel guides contain deals for nearby accommodations and attractions.
Use filters to narrow your rental search:
- Begin by choosing a vacation week and a maximum budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your group needs. The HypNautical Pelican... it's an ocean escape! has 5 bedrooms and 5 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our search.
- Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed counts is normally accessible on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, email the property management company before booking the vacation property. Remember that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which usually includes pull-out couches. You will need to work out which bed configuration is suitable for your vacation family.
- Are you traveling with furry, four-legged family members? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Remember to ask the property manager before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Extra fees or charges may be applied to your agreement.
- Are you looking for special amenities? Most rental websites include search filters for amenities. Use these filters to your advantage to find the perfect rental home.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for those with limited mobility. Make certain to ask about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
Additional considerations:
- Get the owner's contact number and check in/check out procedures for your rental home.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, elevator or thermostat. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief telephone call prevents a lot of problems.
- Ensure you protect the property owner (and your things!) by locking and securing the home while you are gone, just like you would back home.
- Make a record of any issues with the property during check in, and immediately contact the owner. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that are beneficial if a dispute is filed.
- Respecting quiet hours and parking restrictions can make a stay more pleasurable. You'll magnify your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors can be an incredible resource to find the best local beaches and restaurants.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Locals can frequently help. Who better to ask where to order the best nachos, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, walk through the rental to reconfirm you've collected all belongings. Remember to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Please make sure to walk through the property one final time and look for any damage. We recommend inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the property manager isn't available, remember to take photos and video of the rental to record its condition.
- Did you have a terrific time? Most vacation rental websites make it easy for guests to provide comments. If your rental and/or host was fantastic, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was wrong and they failed to fix it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
