Strategies to get the best vacation home experience:
Sticking to your rental budget:
- Summer is the most expensive season in coastal SC. To get the best value, consider changing your group's vacation dates to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and even October offer warm weather, , and reduced traffic.
- Reserve your vacation rental as early as possible. Rental schedules often open a year in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families book their Summer vacations during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner if your vacationing group qualifies for a special promotion or discount.
- Property managers typically offer renters an option to purchase vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any days missed as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for specifics.
- Find a copy of your local Myrtle Beach area magazine when you check-in. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, visitors guides have offers and deals for local shops and restaurants.
Choosing and booking your prefect Myrtle Beach vacation home:
- Choose dates and maximum budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your group requires. THE PEACEFUL PELICAN - BEACH FUN YEAR ROUND!!! has 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is usually available online. If they are not listed, email the property manager before you reserve the property. Note that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds in living rooms. You will need to establish what bed configuration is best for your family.
- If there's an individual Myrtle Beach destination you are crazy about, search for properties that are either near by, or those that cater to your needs.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. Confirm all required amenities are included before booking
- Some rental properties allow pets, and some do not. Allowable types of family pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional charges may apply. Ask the host about your furry family members before booking.
More considerations for your visit:
- Add the property manager's phone number to your smartphone. Print and take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
- To make certain damages aren't attributed to your visit, inspect the rental for any problem areas upon check in. message the rental manager immediately to report your findings. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having a record of problems and contact attempts will be very helpful.
- Hosts are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Don't forget to respect your neighbors. Frequently, surrounding homes are filled by local residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking rules is the right thing to do.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Residents can frequently point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to get the best seafood, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Keep your rental home locked while you're away! Don't let thieves ruin your family vacation.
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, take a walk through the rental to confirm you've collected all of your things. Remember to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Did you have a excellent time? Many vacation rental websites make it easy for clients to provide comments. If your rental and/or host was wonderful, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was inoperable and they failed to correct it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
