Tricks and tips for getting the perfect Myrtle Beach vacation home experience:
Sticking to a rental home budget:
- Summer is high season in the Myrtle Beach area. To get the best rental home within budget, we suggest booking in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons. You'll enjoy lower rates, better selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of large crowds at Myrtle Beach restaurants, beaches, and activities. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to book a beach front rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the high season.
- Reserve your rental as early as possible. Rental schedules generally open 12 months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many groups book their Summer vacation rentals during holiday gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property management company or host whether your vacationing group qualifies for a price reduction or discount.
- Booking websites usually offer renters an option to add trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which usually will cost you between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for additional information.
- Often, rental management companies and vacation rental houses supply Myrtle Beach area visitors guide magazines which often include money-saving deals, either offered independently by local companies, or through a partnership between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
How to choose the best rental home in Myrtle Beach:
- Choose vacation dates and spending budget.
- Decide how many beds and the bed configuration your family requires. THE PEACEFUL PELICAN - BEACH FUN YEAR ROUND!!! has 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is generally accessible on booking pages. If not, reach out to the property management company before reserving the property. Note that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which frequently includes pull-out couches.
- Looking for specific amenities? Most rental websites include search filters for amenities. Filtering by amenity will allow you to quickly find the perfect rental.
- Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. Remember to confirm all necessary amenities are available before reserving a rental
- Do your family pets travel with you? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Ask your host before booking, and study your rental agreement! Pet fees or costs might be applied to your invoice.
Have a great stay:
- Review check in & check out procedures before traveling. Add a note with the directions to your phone, and take a printed backup.
- To ensure that damages are not attributed to your family's visit, note any problem areas during check in. E-mail the host immediately to record any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute, having a record of problems and contact attempts will be very helpful.
- Hosts are there to help! Don't be shy to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Be respectful of your neighbors. Often, nearby homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Locals can usually help. Who better to ask where to find the best bike paths, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Lock your vacation home while you are away. Protect your property!
- When it's time to leave, take a walk-through to confirm you haven't leave anything behind. Re-check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Walk through the rental a final time and scan for damages to contents or the property itself. We advise walking through with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the host isn't available, ensure that you take photos and video of the property to record its condition.
- Did your family have a terrific vacation? Many rental home management companies make it easy for vacationers to provide feedback. If your rental and/or property management company was great, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was wrong and they failed to fix it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
