Getting the best Myrtle Beach rental home experience:
Get the most from your budget:
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months in Myrtle Beach. Booking in Fall or Spring is one of our best tips for saving money on your vacation rental. Rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of acceptable homes. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer months.
- In the Myrtle Beach area, The sooner you can reserve a home, the easier your search will be. The best vacation homes are reserved early. Booking your vacation rental six - twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to plan and book your rental home.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner if your group qualifies for a price reduction.
- Property management companies typically offer their guests an option to purchase trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed days as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for program terms and fees.
- Find a copy of your local visitors guide when you check-in. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, visitor guides have coupons for local attractions, tours, restaurants, and shops.
Planning and picking your prefectvacation home:
- First and foremost, have your group commit to vacation dates and a max budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and the configuration your family requires. The Teal House · 4BR Winter Escape
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is generally available on booking pages. If they are not listed, reach out to the host before you book the vacation property. Remember that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds and bunks.
- Visiting for a specific attraction? Try a map search to browse nearby properties.
- Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. Make certain to inquire about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
- If your family is vacationing with pets, you will need a property that allows animals. Make sure to ask for details on breed, weight, and type requirements. Usually, property managers charge additional pet fees.
Additional considerations:
- Put the owner's contact information in your smartphone.
- Document any issues with the property during check in, and immediately send them to the owner. We especially recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are beneficial if damages are attributed to your stay.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, A/V setup or washer/dryer. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief phone call prevents lots of problems.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. You will enhance your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are an excellent source for finding the best local attractions.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Locals can typically help. Who better to ask where to see a beautiful sunrise or sunset, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Protect the rental owner (and your stuff!) by locking the property when you are out, just like you would back home.
- Don't leave anything behind! Before you drive away, walk through the property to make sure you've collected all personal items. Remember to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- After your trip, leave feedback! Property managers rely on great reviews to drive more bookings. They'll be much obliged for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other vacationing families will be thankful you shared your feedback and help them have the best future vacation. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to solve it.
