Tricks and tips to get the perfect rental experience:
Getting the best rental value:
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months in the Myrtle Beach area. To find the best value, shift your group's trip dates to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and October offer warm temperatures, fewer crowds, and greatly reduced traffic.
- The earlier your group can reserve a vacation rental, the better your selection will be. The best properties are reserved early. Booking your vacation rental 6-12 months before your vacation is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to search for and reserve your vacation home.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property management company or host whether your vacationing group qualifies for a reduced rate.
- Property management companies often offer their guests an option to obtain vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for details.
- Look for your local Myrtle Beach visitors guide magazine when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great information, travel guides have discounts for nearby attractions, tours, restaurants, and shops.
Planning, picking, and booking the bestrental:
- First, have your family agree to date ranges and a spending budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and the configuration your group needs. Spacious Oceanfront 2 Bedroom Suite - Sleeps 8! - Roxanne Towers Unit 406 has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is regularly available on booking pages. If not, call the property management company before you reserve your home. Remember that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which typically includes pull out couches in living rooms. You'll need to determine which bed configuration is optimal for your trip.
- If there's a specific Myrtle Beach attraction you crave, keep an eye out for properties that are either close by, or those that cater to your requirements.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. Confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before reserving a rental
- Are you bringing the family pet? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Remember to ask the property manager before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Additional fees or costs could be applied to your agreement.
Some things to know before you go:
- Put the host's contact information in your smartphone.
- Make a record of any issues with the property upon arrival, and immediately e-mail them to the host. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that can be useful if a dispute is filed.
- Property managers are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask questions during your stay.
- Be a good neighbor. Often times, nearby homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking policies is the right thing to do.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Local residents can frequently help. Who better to ask where to grab the best tacos, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Keep your rental home locked while you are away! Don't let thieves spoil your trip.
- On check-out day, complete a final walk-through to confirm you have not forget anything. Re-check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Please make sure to walk through the rental one final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We suggest inspecting the property with the property manager whenever possible. If the host isn't available, take photographs of the property to record its condition.
- Did your family have a great stay? Many rental managers make it easy for guests to provide reviews. If your rental and/or property manager was wonderful, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was defective and they failed to address it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
