Strategies for getting the best vacation property experience:
Sticking to your rental home budget:
- In the Myrtle Beach area, The sooner your group can book a vacation home, the better your selection will be. The best vacation rentals are reserved very early. Reserving your rental 6-12 months before your travel dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to search for and book your rental property.
- To find the best value, try shifting your group's vacation dates to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and October offer warm temperatures, fewer crowds, and reduced traffic. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with friends and family at your favorite beach.
- Some property managers offer special rates for veterans. Check with your property manager to see if special offers are available for your group before you book.
- Property managers frequently offer renters an option to add trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which commonly costs between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for specifics.
- Find a copy of your local visitors guide upon arrival. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, visitor guide magazines have offers and deals for local tours, shops, and attractions.
Planning and choosing the bestvacation home:
- To start, have your family commit to dates and a maximum budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your family needs. Perfect Pet Friendly 2 Bedroom Retreat! has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed counts is commonly available on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, email or call the host before you reserve your home. Remember that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds and bunks.
- If your group is bringing pets, you must book a rental that allows animals. Get specifics on breed, size, and type requirements. Often, property managers charge additional pet fees.
- Does your group require unique amenities? Most websites include amenity lists and search filters. Use these filters to your advantage to find the perfect rental home.
- Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. Make certain to ask about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
Tips for a fantastic stay:
- Add the host's phone number to your smartphone. Take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
- Hosts are there to help! Don't be shy to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Ensure you protect the property owner (and your stuff!) by keeping the rental locked up while you are away, just like you would at home.
- Make a record of any damages to the rental during check in, and immediately send them to the owner. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that can be helpful if a dispute is filed.
- Respect the neighborhood. Often, adjacent homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking rules reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Residents can frequently help. Who better to ask where to get the best seafood, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
- When it's time to leave, complete a walk-through to make sure you haven't leave anything behind. Re-check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Did you have a wonderful stay? Most vacation rental websites make it easy for clients to provide comments. If your rental and/or host was fantastic, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was amiss and they failed to fix it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
