Vacation rental home tips:
Get the most from your rental budget:
- Reserve your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules often open a year in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many families book their Summer vacations during holiday get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Booking your Myrtle Beach vacation home in Fall or Spring is our favorite way to save money on your vacation. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of desirable homes.
- Property management companies sometimes offer special rates for active duty military and veterans. Remember to ask your property manager if special offers are available for your group before you book.
- Property managers frequently offer customers an option to obtain trip insurance. Trip insurance, which generally will cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for program terms and fees.
- Find a copy of your local Myrtle Beach area magazine when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local information, visitors guides have discounts for nearby accommodations, restaurants and tours.
Make a plan and choose yourrental home:
- Select your dates and budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your family needs. Totally Renovated Family Friendly Beach Bungalow has 4 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Myrtle Beach rental home search.
- Precise details about bedrooms and bed counts is usually available online. If not, call the host before reserving your rental. Note that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which usually includes pull out couches in living rooms.
- Some rental properties allow pets, and some don't. Acceptable types of family pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional costs may apply. Ask your host about pet restrictions before booking.
- Does your group require special amenities? Most rental websites include search filters with amenity lists.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. Confirm all required amenities are available before booking.
Additional considerations:
- Take a copy of the property manager's phone number and entry/exit procedures for your rental property. Store the host's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Property managers are available to help! Feel free to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Lock your rental home while you're out. Keep your property safe!
- Note any issues with the rental during check in, and immediately send them to the owner. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are very helpful if there is a dispute.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disagreeable vacationers bothering your peaceful home life. Use the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great beaches and places you would've never otherwise known!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Neighbors can often help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to get the best seafood, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Double-check the property to make sure that you've packed everything at check-out. Check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Please make sure to walk through the property a final time and keep an eye out for damages to contents or the property itself. We recommend walking through with the property manager whenever possible. If the manager isn't available, ensure that you take pictures of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- Did your group have a terrific time? Most rental home management companies make it easy for vacationers to provide comments. If your rental and/or property management company was great, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was defective and they failed to address it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
