Booking the best rental home experience:
How to get the best rental home value:
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months in coastal SC. Booking in Spring or Fall is a great way to save money on your rental home. Rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of desirable properties. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to book a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer months.
- Book your vacation home as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually open a year in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many families book their Summer rental homes during Thanksgiving and Christmas gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Some owners offer special rates for veterans. Make sure to check with your host or property manager to see if special offers are available for your family before you book.
- Management companies and individual rental owners often offer renters an option to add vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed vacation time as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for program terms and fees.
- Many property management companies and vacation rental houses supply Myrtle Beach area travel guide magazines which often include money-saving deals, either offered independently by local companies, or by way of a relationship between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Myrtle Beach visitors guide and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
Use filters to search efficiently:
- Begin by selecting your potential vacation weeks and a budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and the bed configuration you need. Tranquil Beachside Oasis: 2BR Condo Resort View has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Myrtle Beach rental home search.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is normally available on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, reach out to the host before reserving the vacation property. Note that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which often includes pull-out couches. You will need to establish which bed configuration is best for your vacation.
- Visiting for a specific attraction or event? If so, use a map search to find nearby properties.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. Confirm all necessary amenities are available before reserving a rental
- If your family is bringing pets, search for a pet-friendly vacation rental. Ask for specifics on breed, size, and type restrictions. Note that some property managers require additional pet deposits and fees.
Some things to know before you go:
- Put the host's information in your smartphone.
- Document any issues with the property upon arrival, and immediately e-mail them to the host. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be valuable if a dispute arises.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, A/V setup or appliance. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief call can prevent many problems.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You will increase your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors can be an incredible resource to find the best local scenic spots.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Locals can usually help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to take kids for a treat, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Protect the owner (and your things!) by locking the property while you are out, just like you would back home.
- Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, take a walk through the rental property to make sure you've collected all personal items. Re-check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Leave a review! Property owners rely on excellent feedback to inspire future bookings. They'll be much obliged for your review. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other vacationing families will be thankful you shared your feedback find their best vacation rental. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to fix it.
