Tips and Tricks to get the best rental home experience:
Get the most from your rental home budget:
- Summer is high season in the Myrtle Beach area. To get the best value, consider shifting your group's trip dates to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and even October offer great weather, , and reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to book a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer.
- The earlier your group can book a rental home, the better your selection will be. The most desirable vacation homes are reserved early. Booking your rental home six - twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to search for and reserve your vacation rental.
- Some hosts and property managers offer special rates for active duty military and veterans. Check with your property manager to see if discounts are available for your family.
- Property management companies often offer renters an option to buy trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed trip time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for more information.
- Look for your local Myrtle Beach area magazine when you check-in. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, visitor guides contain offers and deals for local accommodations, restaurants and tours.
Choosing the best rental home:
- Select dates and maximum budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and the bed configuration you need. Beach front! 3BR overlooking pool and ocean! has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is regularly available on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, reach out to the property management company before you book the home. Remember that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which typically includes pull out couches in living rooms. You'll need to determine which bed configuration is best for your vacation.
- Are you visiting for a single event? If so, use a map search to browse nearby rentals.
- Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. Confirm all necessary amenities are included before booking.
- Do your family pets travel with you? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Remember to ask the property manager before booking, and study your agreement! Additional fees or may be applied to your invoice.
More considerations:
- Be sure you get the owner's phone number and entry/exit procedures for your rental.
- Record any damages to the rental upon arrival, and immediately contact the host. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be beneficial if damages are attributed to your stay.
- Hosts are available to help! Feel free to ask any questions during your stay.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like unpleasant visitors bothering your peace. Practice the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great beaches and attractions you would have never otherwise known about!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Local residents can frequently help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to find the best seashells, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Keep your rental home locked while you are gone! Don't let burglars ruin your vacation.
- Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, walk through the property to confirm you've collected all belongings. Check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Please make sure to walk through the rental one final time and scan for any damage. We recommend inspecting the property with the property manager whenever possible. If the property manager isn't available, take photos of the rental to record its condition.
- Did your group have a excellent time? Most rental managers make it easy for guests to provide comments. If your property and/or property manager was wonderful, they would love to hear about it. If anything was imperfect and they failed to address it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
