How to get the best Myrtle Beach rental experience:
Sticking to your budget:
- Summer months are high season in the Myrtle Beach area. To find the largest rental home within budget, we highly recommend reserving in Fall or Spring. You'll benefit from lower rates, better selection, warm weather and the absence of large crowds at popular Myrtle Beach attractions and restaurants. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer.
- The earlier you can reserve a home, the better your selection will be. The best rental properties are reserved very early. Booking your vacation property six to twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to search for and reserve your rental home.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager if your family qualifies for a price reduction.
- Property management companies typically offer guests an option to obtain vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which costs 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed trip time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for additional information.
- Look for your local Myrtle Beach visitors guide magazine upon arrival. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, travel guide magazines contain coupons for local accommodations, restaurants and tours.
Narrow your rental Search:
- Select your dates and budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and the configuration your group needs. Unwind in our Sailfish Deluxe Suite 4th Floor has 2 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
- Specific information about bedrooms and bed types is almost always accessible online. If they are not listed, call the property management company before you book the property. Note that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which typically includes pull out couches in living rooms. You'll need to determine what configuration is optimal for your vacation group.
- If there's a specific Myrtle Beach destination you are crazy about, browse homes that are either close by, or those that cater especially to your desires.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. Confirm all required amenities are available before reserving a rental.
- Are you bringing the family pet? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your rental agreement! Additional fees or costs might be applied to your contract.
Advice for a fantastic stay:
- Be sure you get the host's contact number and check in/check out procedures for your rental property. Put the manager's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Note any issues with the rental at check in, and immediately contact the host. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that are helpful if damages are attributed to your stay.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, A/V setup or thermostat. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief telephone call can prevent many issues.
- Be a good neighbor. Frequently, adjacent homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting noise limits and parking policies is the right thing to do.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Residents can typically point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to launch your kayaks, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Ensure you protect the owner (and your things!) by keeping the rental locked up when you are away, just like you would at home.
- Don't leave anything behind! Before you drive away, take a walk through the property to confirm you've collected all personal items. Check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Inspect the rental a final time and look for damage. We recommend inspecting the property with the property manager whenever possible. If the host is not available, ensure that you take pictures of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- Did your family have a wonderful time? Most rental home management companies make it easy for customers to provide reviews. If your property and/or host was terrific, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was defective and they failed to fix it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
