Tricks and tips for getting the best Myrtle Beach vacation rental experience:
Finding your perfect rental:
- Book your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules often become available a year in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups reserve their Summer vacation rentals during Christmas and Thanksgiving get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Summer months are high season in the Myrtle Beach area. Reserve your vacation home in the Fall or Spring to get the benefit of beautiful weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with loved ones at your favorite beach.
- Some property managers offer rate reductions for veterans and active duty military. Ask your property manager if special offers are available for your family.
- Management companies and individual rental owners typically offer renters an option to purchase trip insurance. Trip insurance, which will generally cost between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed days as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for program terms and fees.
- Look for your local Myrtle Beach visitors guide upon checking in. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great information, travel guide magazines have discounts for local shops and restaurants.
Filter your search:
- Select a group lead, choose your vacation week, and choose a max budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your family needs. River Oaks Unit 18H S has 2 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
- Specific details about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is usually accessible on booking websites. If they are not listed, call the property management company before booking your home. Remember that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull-out couches and bunk beds.
- Traveling with pets? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Remember to ask your host before booking, and study your rental agreement! Pet fees or could be applied to your contract.
- Are you looking for particular amenities? Most rental websites include search filters with amenity lists.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for those with limited mobility. Confirm all required amenities are available before booking.
Advice for a wonderful stay:
- Take a copy of the owner's phone number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental home.
- Property managers are available to help! Don't be shy to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Lock your vacation home while you're away. Protect the owner's property and your stuff!
- Document any damages to the property at check in, and immediately send them to the property manager. We especially recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that are very helpful if there is a dispute.
- Be respectful of your neighbors. Frequently, nearby homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking policies is the right thing to do.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Residents can typically help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to get the best breakfast in town, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Re-check every room of the rental property to confirm that you've packed all personal items on check-out day. Make sure to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Inspect the rental one final time and keep an eye out for damages to contents or the property itself. We advise inspecting the property with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the property manager is not available, remember to take photographs of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- Did your family have a wonderful vacation? Most vacation rental websites make it easy for guests to provide comments. If your property and/or host was wonderful, they would love to hear about it. If anything was inoperable and they failed to address it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
